The song is written by Pink and Max Martin and released to the American CHR on August 18, 2008.That video is directed by Dave Meyers and premiered the video on August 22 2008 on FNMTV at 8pm EST. 'So What' is a break-up song. Specifically, it's a brash, childish, defiant and rather tongue-in-cheek break-up song. It's also a break-up song that lots of people will be singing along to, thanks to a typically stonking pop/rock chorus courtesy of Max Martin. But Pink's brilliance here shouldn't be underestimated. Who else would think to do something like this? Who else could pull it off? And who else could persuade the ex-hubby she calls a "tool" on the chorus to appear in the video. I wasn't previously a Pink fan, but I am a world music fan, and there is DEFINITELY a strong Ethiopian vibe in this song. This is the first time I've heard an Ethiopian tune woven into American pop music, and I love it. God awful. Honestly, if writing the lyrics to this song took any longer than 80 seconds i'd truly be suprised. Pink has an amazing voice, and great songs. "So What" is lazy, slapped together garbage that she should (and probably is) embarassed for releasing as it is. "the waitor just took my taaa-ble and gave it to jessica simmmpson"...they sould come clean and admit that a three year old wrote this for them. Just goes to show that some atrists can metaphorically crap in a paper bag and the masses will eat it up like belgian waffles. Truly, truly terrible.
