The Thaw Is Over Nearly

hi grandpa bob...when i was in michigan and it looked like that i was elated. i'll take the brown grass anytime. compared to snow and ice brown grass looked beautiful to me. (not a big winter fan) but now here in missouri we've had a mild winter. it's been funny tho cause apart from a week of straight cold with ice and snow. it's been good every other day in the 60's and cold every other day in the 20's getting down to 3. it has been very yo-yo weather. but it is good to get rid of the ice. there is too much ice here. and the warmer weather is great to get your errands done in. it feels good to be out and you can feel the happiness from the traffic around you. so you want more snow to cover your brown grass? maybe you could paint your grass green?

Nothing around here to thaw out unless I take ice out of the freezer and put it in the yard. hahaha It won't be too long before you can start thinking about your gardening again.

Yes, we are experiencing the very same here! I'm not big on winter or snow and we sure had a lot of it but now what is left is dirty and yucky looking and there is ice with water laying on it on the side walks as well! However, it is only mid Februry and so I do not expect that we are through with Winter yet! Dull gray day today and yesterday but nice and warm...I suspect it will rain again at some point! ~Heavens~

And I also don't like the way my yard looks...all muddy and yucky. I think it was so nice to have those warm days but now the temps have dropped and I think we might be in for a surprise one of these days with a big storm....I am glad it's froze though today to stop all those puddles from running all over!

It has been a wonderful, mild week here in Ohio. I can sit on my porch in just a sweater and enjoy the robins singing, it's like getting a taste of Spring to encourage my spirits! Today it will reach 62 and we'll have thunderstorms and wind gusts up to 60mph, or so they say. That's ok, too! It will be an interesting day, especially since my poor Gus is scared of thunder and I'll have to spend more time than usual. I guess I'll prepare by bringing a book downstairs and putting it by my chair so I can be ready with a lap for him to sit in when and if the thunder begins!

i am so glad that it is starting to get warmer i hate the cold weather because my daughter hates to be inside she got a lot of kool toys for the out side for christmas that she wants to go out and play with so it can keep getting nice so we can go out and play

Our snow melted too, now everything looks so dirty and yucky. Its too muddy and wet to get out and do any clean up. We are having rain now, our winter is far from being over with. We have had 2 days of temps in the 50'd, the rest of the week temps will be back to normal.

I am glad for the thaw but boy is it a mess out there. The poor dog hates the mess.

Here in Winnipeg, it is 30 degrees and tomorrow it will be even lower. Not that much but walking will be dangerous. I have to walk down to pay some bills so it had better be melting by next week. I went out on Monday and then fell on my back side so I decided wait until the sidewalk is clear enough. I mean the same thing happens every year and this time we do not have a car since my husband's arthritis is so bad. A muddy yard is the least of my problems. Besides our yard is all in grass.

Most of our snow is gone. Yesterday it was 63 degrees and sunny but today it's raining and 50. We are getting some snow on Friday night/Saturday but only an inch or two and back in the 30's. It's much better than the o temps we were getting a few weeks ago. I took a picture of my front yard for you.

Yesterday it got to 70 degrees here. But alas, the temp is back down in the 40's and dropping quickly. We had snow that melted as well. But according to the news more will be on the way by Tuesday. I guess mother nature is being fickle this year.

The snow turned to rain here in UK and so caused a lot of flooding instead of thawing. It has been horrible, today it has been sleet showers all day and it is so cold, yesterday though was a lovely sunny day and the difference a bit of sun makes to a person I felt really happy yesterday.

Hi GRANDPA BOB, You still have a little bit of snow still and may get some more later, we had snow for a day and hilf and now its all gone, it has been raining non-stop here and causing floods in some area, its not one but another over here. Tamara

Hey Grandpa Bob! We are having the same crazy weather here! It was in the high 50's and almost near 60 here today! And then it will be dropping back down slowly to where it should be over the next few days. This weather is completely insane! I don't know about snow yet. I did hear something about some flurries possibly in a few days. We still have a little bit of snow let here, but not much. I don't know what will happen next anymore!

There is nothing here to thaw out where I live. We have no snow and I am glad for that.Its been in the 60 to low 50's this week so far. There is some talk that we might get some rain showers but who knows the weather changes here by the minute.

Yeah, we had a heat wave here as well so no more snow on the ground cept for the inch that fell overnight but that's almost gone by now as well. Everything is a great big muddy mess now. We also have our own skating pond out back but our daughter can skate on it. It's about 20' across but only a foot deep.

Yup! Been raining since last night, and about 10°C. Just the snow that was piled high remains, along with some rather unsightly detritous...

our snow is gone but there's still ice,bad ice at that. i do wish for more snow to freeze the now mushy ground,but i hope at least some of the ice melts first.last time it snowed you couldn't see it underneath,and i fell on my butt.

After all of the ice and snow that we had it is actually gone now! The temperature today is nearing 70 degrees! Can you believe that? We now have high wind advisory and thunderstorm warning for this evening. But the extended forecast is calling for snow and ice again Sunday night. This weather is nuts! LOL

Yes! thank goodness. We had snow again a few days ago, but it rained and washed it all away. It was a beautiful day yesterday with temperatures around 10 oc which was lovely. Today it is around three degrees and I pray it does not snow. The snow sure does make an awful mess. Everything is yucky and dirty and stained white with the salt. Roll on Springtime:)
