Do you just read the title only when replying to discussions?

I must admit sometimes I do it too especially if the discussion is a one liner. I have posted two discussions with a misleading title on purpose. I just wanted to test how many of us here do read the title only and just start replying without even bothering what the user has said in the post. I posted a discussion about my son who was sick (I referred to him as a puppy) and I had some interesting replies by some of mylotters who thought that my real puppy is sick....Anyway sometimes I do it too especially if I am in a hurry and I want to catch up with all my friends discussions. ~Do you just read the title only when replying to discussions?

At the very least, I will skim over the discussion. I have misread a couple and then after my post went up looked at it again and was just kind of like, oops . I think sometimes you get more responses if your title is a little bit vague. Whenever I post a topic with a very specific topic it seems that I get fewer responses...but maybe that's just me.

No... I always read the discussions through, mainly because I'm interested in what people have to say. I've also learned from other people's responses to some of my discussions that they don't read the discussion through, or they don't understand the English language well enough to know what I'm saying, and that their responses are most inapt! It confuses the heck out of me sometimes. Therefore, I always read right through, however long the discussion. Brightest Blessings.

Ha! H Ha! Ha! So far...YOU have NOT caught me in your little "verbal gymnastic" traps! But reading your discussions (thru & thru) you have caught a few! LOL! I read a post thoroughly b4 I respond...and quite often do not respond spontaneously, but give it a good pondering b4 spewing forth! I have my own policy...and simply do not respond to one line discussions, and never respond with one-liners! Sometimes, would like to, as sometimes they carry the greater punch! Have a great one!

I prefer to answer to my friend's discussions such as yours. That way I get to know them more. I feel more comfortable when answering their discussions and it becomes like discussing with a real friend in real world.

It seems that most animal lovers treat their pets as their children..... I hope that it is not the other way round :)

Hi ronaldinu, I have no children so my two cats are my babies, I can't help it, I love them so much. Tamara

If the describtion is really too long, I will just glance it quick and get the idea what it's talking about.

It is the title that first catches my eye I will admit, but if I am going to post from the title, I will read the discussion first. :-) Derek

I do read the title of the discussion before opening it to read or respond. I won't respond to discussions that i don't know about the matter in it. So, the title is the main thing that leads to know one knows about it or not. A related title for a discussion is good i think. Have a nice day

I feel like I definately have to read the original poster's discussion so I don't mistake what it was about. Plus, some of the members on here are real characters and will start a topic with a title that is related, but makes you think the discussion will be something totally different. It makes it fun. Plus, you never know if it is going to be like one of those tests in school that starts with "Read all directions first". I half expected there would be a trick to this on.

No. I always read the whole discussion before replying. The problem is, I always find my thoughts along the first responses so oftentimes I ended up not responding at all. No cents for me then. But, there are also times that I was able to do good reply after reading what others posted and that make things even .

I do read the title and if it catches my fancy then i read the full post. After going through the post if i have something new or informative to offer then i respond to the discussion, otherwise i just read the responses of fellow members. That is my way of mylotting.

Before I open a topic, I always look for the title. If I am not interested in a certain topic, I don't force myself to respond. Sometimes, if I don't have the luxury of time, I just read the title and not the content. And I just base my comments on the title... Happy posting..

No, I never just read the title. even some titles are beyond me, I won't reply to them. The ones I choose, I usually read them through. If it is too long , then I apply my reading skill to it, that's skimmimg and scanning. You know, making money is only part of the reasons we are here, one can make a simple calculation that even if he posted all day long, the money he earned here is too trivial. So reading posts and responses for me is a process of understanding other culture and way of people thinking. Have a nice day.I love your image.

I always read all of the discussion and most of the responses. I want to make sure that my response is on the discussion. I just left a news discussion that the responders didn't bother to read beyond the title because of the remarks that were made concerning the condition of the man in the news report. I read your discussion about you sick puppy and at first thought it was about your new puppy but in reading t I did learn that it was about your son. I hope he is better by now.

No, I read the whole thing. It is annoying when one can tell the responder has not read the entire discussion. So when I answer a discussion, I don't want to annoy anyone else. Thus, I read the entire thing before posting an answer. That doesn't mean I always understand the discussion though... lol

Gosh you had me worried there I remember the 'puppy' one and even though I had read it I went and checked and I did get it right - pheeeeeeeeew! I usually read the whole text, title and discussion and all the responses before responding. I have been known to misundertsand but not becuase I didn't read it. Probably I have a 'blonde moment' every now and then? (Now why would I say that as I've never been blonde ever! )

puppy - A picture of a puppy that does not relate to this post either.
I read the title and all the original post. There is not much point in replying if I am not addressing the problem that the poster is outlining. It is a waste of my time and yours. The replies, I usually read the first and last page to get the gist of the replies, or if it is a specific enough problem I will read them all to see if they have revealed a solution that I was going to suggest. There are 8 pages to this thread and I might skim them but I cannot sit here and read 8 pages. If there is a page or two of replies I will read most or all.

No,after i read the title,i will read the contents carefully. Because sometimes people start a discussion with a simple title but complex content
