The stolen toilet tissue..

I was once at this motel last year, and I needed some toilet tissue for my room. When the housekeeper came to my room I asked him for some. He told me that they no longer carry it on them or in the back room. He said that if I wanted some, that I would have to go to the office to get the toilet paper. He said that the toilet paper was being stolen from the laundry room. Well from my understanding, I used to see that laundry room open many times when they were in the rooms cleaning.. So, while housekeeper's were busy cleaning and what not, someone could have easily have gone into the laundry room and stole as much tissue as they desire. It seems inconvienent for me as a customer to go all of the way to the front office just to get tissue paper. That means that if I go, I will have to gather all three of my kids. And what if it was at night when I needed the toilet paper? Why would they leave the laundry room open when they know that they hardly will be in there, it is like they are setting themselves up for trouble. So, that first time, he gave me a roll of tissue, and since from that time, I just started buying my own toilet paper. I wasn't about to walk all the way to the office for tissue. The management is supposed to make sure that we as customers feel comfortable not uncomfortable..

LOL! I hate going all the way to the front desk. I have never heard of them doing this. Must have been a crappy motel or something. Seems silly they need to lock their crap up.

Yes, it seems silly.. A guy who was staying next door to us came to the front hunting tissue paper.. I felt so sorry for him.. The manager was asking him why he needed more already, because they just gave him some tissue just the other day..It seems that they need to do a count on what all they gave in the room as supply.. Or stock up or something..

Hi cream. What a strange thing! I never heared this. They must put toilet paper in the rooms for customers of course. The customers are paying for all so if someone stole the toilet paper keep the door closed to avoid this. If it happen with me I move to another motel.
Have a good day.

It sounds like that hotel is grossly mismanaged. I would have done the same thing.

Wow. I think I would be finding a different motel to stay in. That is ridiculous! They should take the necessary precautions to protect their supplies. I would file a complaint with managment. The only time I buy my own TP is when I am going camping because they steal it form those restrooms! LOL
Hey I could stop by the motel first and steal theirs , then go camping! ROFL

It seems to me that the cost of your room in a motel would include the toilet paper. The maids should be resupplying the rooms. If they are not, I would call and report that to the office. I would also report your finding the laundry room being left open and unattended. I have never been to a hotel or motel where toilet paper was not supplied.

That's a very extreme policy! I've never heard of that one! I've had to request extra blankets, pillows, sometimes rollaway beds, but never toilet rolls! It's interesting though, I bet that "trend" will soon be incorporated into the major motel chains.

To me it sounds like the people who own the motel are lazy and don't want to do anything or make their workers do anything. I don't see how that is a good way to run a business, it surprises me that they're still in business.

I agree with you, that the management of the motel should make sure that their customers feel comfortable. It is very unusual for the management to treat their customers in such manner. I doubt if they know that the housekeeper told you to go to the front office to get a tissue paper because the management should make your stay with the motel convenient so you will feel like coming back again.

hello cream
i have to agree with ya on that one. lol i wouldn't think that i should have to walk down to the front desk or the office of the hotel for some toilet paper like that. lol that would not only be embarrassing to me but also non-lack of help on the hotel's part. that is the hotel's problem to deal with and to supply their hotel rooms with the toilet paper or soap or whatever that you might need while that you are staying there. and they shouldn't leave their laundry room open like that when nobody is in it. like you said, anybody could just walk right in there and grab as much toilet paper as they wanted and carry it off. lots of people proabably have even taken toilet paper like that home with them so that they won't have the expense of buying the toilet paper. well i hope that the next time that you go back to that hotel, that they supply your room with plenty of toilet paper in it.
take care and have a beautiful afternoon.

Are you serious? What kind of a motel does not provide toilet paper? Are you supposed to bring your own? What happens if you were already seating and in the process and then noticed there is no paper? Would they rather have you use a towel? Please, tell us the name of this motel, I will be sure to NEVER stay there!!
Unreal.

i used to work in housekeeping- alot of times they leave the closets open because not only does the housekeeper go in there, the lobby attendant, houseman, and even the bellboy gets supplies also.they're just too lazy to have multiple keys made up.
i noticed 9 times out of ten though,it wasn't the guest stealing stuff,it was the night attendant taking TP home,or housekeepers in other areas swiping from each other.
i have to say i've never worked at a motel/hotel that made you go to the front desk for it.

The fact is that people steal just about anything. Sometimes companies decide they just don't have to pay for this and I don't blame them.
When you are travelling you should travel with a supply of toilet paper. Its so necessary especially with children.
You'd be amazed how the cost of stolen items add up even little things like tissue paper.

One would think that toilet paper would be included when the rooms are cleaned. Why should they take it out on the guests, because someone leaves the supply room open and the tissue is stolen. They should make sure the area is secured and no one can get in it. I know going to the front desk is a hassle, but tissue is included in your rate and they should give it out without you having to ask for it.

Hey cream! You should have spoken to the management about this
at the time this housekeeper told you about it. Why should
you have to buy your own toilet tissue. They are supposed to
supply you with it. You should have gone to the management
office and asked them for the toilet tissue when you had
the chance and found out what was going on yourself.

Wow.... That is very odd. In places such as this it is managements responsibility to supply the toilet paper and other amenities. What kind of an establisment is this that leaves it up to the customer to supply their own toilet paper? I'm confused, cream. It just sounds a bit odd to me.
