I find self-learning, through books or online learning difficult, as I'm not a disciplined person. I would rather attend a lecture or workshop, where I can see and hear the lecturer and trainer. Moreover, I can ask questions and listen to others' questions as well. I learn better this way.

Personally I prefer a combination of both things. I have discovered that the best way of learning something is to read it on my own at first and then listen to a lecture about the topic. When I have read about the topic beforehand, it is a lot easier for me to understand the lecture. The good thing about reading the books on your own is that you can take as much time as you need, and if there is something that you didn't understand, you can just go back and read it again. The good thing about listening to a lecture is that you often get a different perspective and that you often get some examples which weren't a part of the book. When you get some extra examples it becomes easier to understand the topic. A combination of the two things is the best, but if I only had to choose only one thing I would choose to study on my own.

It depends on person to person. Some will grasp things faster when he is told something while some will learn faster by reading a book in peace. Sometimes we find it difficult to understand what is written but understand it better when someone explains it. Ex: when a lecturer break down a long sentence or emphasises particular words. When you read a book if you forget some points you can always turn back the page. You can't do that in a lecture. Personaly, I need both. First listen to the lecture to understand then read the book to memorize.

Well sometimes when you read, you get to know things from your own perspective or what you read is interpreted to your own adaptation . But sometimes it is good since you personally read it and known it, unlike when somebody tells you like this or that when you heard them say false things, you will disagree to that person because you have already got the knowledge of reading it personally. Actually, i don't depend on lecturers or teachers saying or just plainly teaching things. Self reading is important and proving to the extent of what is the truth or what is really right.

Ya i got your point, but what about if the author of the book don't have much knowledge and misinterpret the topics then?Or wouldn't it be better to make a time and have a discussion with an educated person on that particular topics, wouldn't that saves more time?
