I was just wondering,is there a right way or a wrong way to pray in your opinion? Do you pray just the lords prayer (or a specific prayer) or do you just talk to God like he is your friend? I personally pray the lords prayer AND talk to him like a friend

i agree with DNATURE up there. there are no wrong way of praying as long as all the intentions are good and not bad. as long as we pray with our hearts then i think that is a good prayer. even if it is a specific prayer or a prayer that is like talking to the Lord is still a good prayer. i too have specific prayers then i also have praying like talking to him. i do light candles for people that i want to pray for. for example if they need guidance or they will under go examinations at school. if they need strenght i pray for them

Hello, I don't think there is any right or wrong way to pray. I use a formula I heard about many years ago, to ask, believe, confess.don't doubt,do it every day and forgive.Thats how I learned, everyone does it differently.

The only wrong prayer is the one with bad intentions. There is no only one way to pray. There are Traditions who have their standard and traditional ways to pray.. Certain people and traditions have the correct way to pray in their spiritual culture. In the end, G-d does not care if you pray silent, outloud, a prayer another wrote, or from a holy scripture, spiritual tradition, or if its in pure thought, or from the heart. Spirit G-d just askes us to come together and pray for eachother... As far as if coming together is praying alone in a group... Silent or yelling for the world to here.. Prayer is the most powerful tool we have. And there are unlimited ways to pray. :) - DNatureofDTrain

I think praying is good but I don't do that anymore. i would rather just do everything that I can and not expect god to do things for me. If I do not get something then I don't worry about it. cheers!!

I prefer to meditate over praying, so that I can have a two way communication with my Gods.

I read your posting and thought it was a very interesting question, one that truly deserved not only a response, but a well thought out one. I also read the responses you received, and I can truly say that I was surprised at how open minded they were. I applaud all of you. They are right, there really is no right or wrong way to pray. The only thing that we should keep in mind is that we should not repeat the same prayer over and over again like they do in church. The bible teaches us many things, and one of these is that what you ask your heavenly father or thank him for should not always be the same thing. He heard you the first time. The patience that we must have for our prayers to be answered is key. Sometimes things don't happen right away, but that doesn't mean that your prayers will not be answered. As long as you truly believe in God, then you must know that he will work wonders to help you. When you least expect it, that's when he will answer you. The sample prayer in the bible that Jesus gave us, is just that, a sample. Unfortunatly the bible has been distorted by religious leaders throughout the ages for their own interest, and we have lost the meaning of true prayer. Keep on asking. He's listening.

there is no wrong and right way in praying. you can even pray anywhere you want or anything you do. but as i heard it, when you praise and worship, i mean you sing your praises its like you pray double. its also been said that two heads are better that one, meaning God said to his disciples that when two or three are gathered in the name of Him,He is with him. but any words you say, as long as you are praying heartily. i like to talk to God and pause for a moment to listen for His answer.
