How many people out there in mylot land agree to this..... "Never put infants in car seats to try to put them to sleep"
Reason I bring this up is it seems some people do not have common sense to not use the car seat to put the baby to sleep and because of their laking a 10-month old baby lost his life. http://www2.canada.com/vancouversun/news/westcoastnews/story.html?id=bb6c7cfb-c71e-42ff-8a40-fbd5e037b596

i would say its lack of knowledge over anything else, a short sleep/nap while being watched WONT hurt a baby all night can and does hurt a child if nothing else its really bad for their spines!

It is stated on literature given to new parents from the hospital that you should never put a child to sleep in a carseat because of the increased risk of SIDS. The angle of their neck cuts off their wind supply if left for extended periods of time. Thank you for getting this message out warning parents NEVER to do this.
If you are having problems putting your child down for the night there are other solutions:
Try dressing the baby down if he/she is too warm, and up if he/she is too cool. Remember not to put blankets on the baby as this too can lead to suffocation. It's best to swaddle them if they are newborns, and for older children dress them accordingly.
If they are colicky you can try running a hot shower and sit on the toliet with the child. (You want the steam. DO NOT PUT YOUR CHILD INTO THE HOT WATER). You can have child face away from you over your arm, firmly holding them, and rub their back with gentle circular motions.
Make sure to check their diaper, give them a bottle, and sometimes just rocking your child is enough to help them fall back asleep.
