How much time do you spend on the computer everyday. It is for your work or is it because you love to spend time on the computer. My job needs me to be at the computer everyday. But when I do not have any work then too I am on the net everyday. Busy mylotting or doing something else online.

There is no fixed time as such which is spent on computer everyday, as far as I am concerned. It depends upon the work at my disposal. If there is much work, I do not mind sitting on computer for hours together to dispose of my work. I spend on an average two hours in a day,at least and duration may increase, depending upon the work load. In between of my work, when I find time, I go to mylot to interact with my friends, through their and mine discussions. At home, I get very less time to go on-line, it happens occasionally. I've observed that sitting continously on computer affects our eye-sight and health.

You are absolutely right that spending long hours in front of computer are making us inactive and lazy and it definitely effects our health. We must take some breaks in between our work and must go out for a compulsory walk.

Long hours at the computer is making us physically inactive and is also a strain on our health. We do not realize this sometimes. I have started putting on a lot of weight in the past few months and the doctor has asked me not to sit continuously for so long. But there is hardly anything I can do about it because there is hardly any space here for me to take a walk!

Well, my job requires me to sit at computer for 8 hours. But even on holiday I sit with my laptop and spend most of my time with it. For more information about my using computer read the discussion I have just responded to.

I am a retired person so i have all the time in the world to do as i please which includes sitting on my pc. However i do not sit on it for more than one and a half hours as my daily schedule is very tight and well regulated. I am not addicted to the internet or even mylot so i do not feel the need to spend more time on it as i have other pursuits.

I do take short breaks. But very rarely to chat with others in the office. I keep that for after office hours. I am usually on my hotmail and mylot. Sometimes I write poems and short stories on another site. Rest of the time if I do not have work I read something.

I am not too fond of online games or chatting on the net. But I sure send emails daily to a lot of my friends and family. Besides that I am also writing on one site and earning from another site as well besides mylot. Yes I think now you need to seriously think of earning something until your husbans job starts back. All the best to both of you.

Same here for me. I’m at the computer 8hrs everyday, except the weekends. Most days I am busy for office work and in between when I have time, I am mylotting. Do you face any problems? Sometimes my eyes become too dry and I splash water on them. I am also having a pain on my heel, maybe due to prolonged sitting in one posture.

Yes, Mayka I came across another discussion from you where you mentioned about starting a diet...can you share it with me...I too have gained a lot of weight which I just cant seem to lose. As you know, going to the gym and having special diets for ourselves is just not feasible for working mothers like us...any help in how we can alter our daily diet to lose some weight?

I too am at the computer for eight hours five days a week. Of late I have started getting some pain in my knees because of sitting for long hours. My office is not so big that I can take a walk around. Have also started putting on a lot of weight which is not making me too happy. My eyes are not giving me much trouble because I make sure I do not look at the screen continuously for too long. I can manage to type without continuously looking at the screen.

I can sit 2 hours straight finishing my documents but I make sure I have some minutes to straighten up my legs and close my eyes in between..:) During weekends I am ususally off the computer because I need to rest..

It really depends on how much work and time I have available. Before/A few months back Id be on myLot almost everytime everyday, thats because its my vacation and the schoolwork that time isnt that demanding. Nowadays, I only get to myLot a few times per week and sometime when Im able to get in here, I only have time to read discussions and not actually respond to them So before, Id sit at the computer for more than 5 hours a day either just websurfing, playing games, chatting with friends, do a bit of school work, and myLotting. These days, the most Im online would be about an hour or two. Sitting on the computer busy with something would depend on how much work I need to accomplish. That would range from an hour to a whole night ...sigh.

I am online for eight hours everyday during the week at office. In between jobs I do manage to read the notifications in my inbox. I may not be able to respond to them but I keep the ones that I want to respond to and delete the rest. Then when I do get the time I respond to the discussions besides checking on to some other sites. But I dont think I would be able to spend the whole night in front of the computer!!

I spend FAR too much time at the computer - and I told myself I'd ease up on it this year and get some other things done. So far, I haven't kept my promise to myself, but I will. My husband actually got cataracts in his eyes from years and years working with a CRT monitor - so, even though most of us have LCD monitors now, it's still not a good thing for our health!

Hello makya.....Well I do spent about 2 to 3 hours every day at the computer.I chat with a few of my close relatives ,sent mails to family and friends, and also do some surfing and other online jobs everyday. And of course I do also mylot almost every day.But I am not fond of watching movies and videos or playing computer games on my Pc....I am so hooked to my Pc that even if I am away from home for more than a day,the first thing I do when I come back home is to check my mail for any important messages......

It is good that you are not too fond of watching movies online. Though I myself have not tried it I believe that the movies take a very long time to download. You would then have your internet bill doubled! I do not log on to the net during the weekend. But the first thing that I do on Monday morning is check my emails for messages from family and friends!

well mayka I do not watch movies on pc because I do not much fancy watching them on the small screen.Infact it is possible to download movies at night since BSNL provides free internet usage at night from 11 to 7 I think.....Any way when my son is around he sometimes activates down loading od 2 or 3 movies at one go and goes to bed late. Then I wake up early and switch off the pc in the morning.......

Too much time comes to mind! I can spend all day using my computer, and not always for my writing or social sites, also for my games.
I do balance it with days of not using the computer at all, but I think I need to find the balance between the two.

Since I don't work, I don't use the computer for that type of senario. However, since I have no life, that's all I use my computer for. I'm on the bloody thing to catch up on emails, look at my MySpace and of course, MyLot. Now, I used to spend quite a number of hours on it a day, but since I've discovered that spending the time with the kids was much more exciting, I've been with them, thus cutting down my hours on the net considerably.

Well, it depends. I am working in the office and there are times that I have to sit in front of the computer the whole day. Sometimes just for a few hours depending on what the situation maybe. When I am at home, just doing some online searching and surfing or chat, its just around 1 hour.
