Do you go to the barbershop or hair salon?

When I was small, I used to go to the barbershop every time my mom thought I needed a haircut. The problem really was, she didn't want me looking like a bushy afro kid. I didn't like the barbershop much. Which was why when I was old enough to start paying for my own stuff, that I did just that. I became friends with another boy who learned how to cut hair by cutting his own. So, I bought some clippers and started cutting my own hair as well. Little did I know that I would actually get pretty good at it that I cut my nickname in the back of my head.
So, now I cut my hair whenever I need a haircut verses going to a professional barber. My wife even cuts my kids hair. What do you do? How often do you visit the barber of salon?

I usually go to a professional hairdresser to cut my hair, I like it, I find as a relaxing head massage. I am a woman who needs some little treats and a hair cut at the barber salon is a bit of treat for me.

I do not have any money so I just cut my own hair and I dye it myself as well.

I do not go to the hair salon, can not afford it. Actually, I have only had my hair done professionally four times in my life. I have a thing about other people messing around with my hair or head.
My husband goes to the barber shop, but lately, we have not had the money for him to go. This past Saturday, his friend was over our house and said that he had clippers, and asked if my husband wanted his hair cut.
Well, he came over and gave him the haircut, at first I thought it looked nice, but as time went on, I do not like the haircut at all.
But the good thing is his hair is cut, and he no longer looks like a grizzly bear

Professionals are hard to find, especially in that line of work, better keep that one.

That is nice if your wife can cut your kids hair, may be I would to learn it too :D. I go to my favorite barber once or twice a year to make cut my hair and do some treatment like creambath and message. I did my hair cut by my own but the result was terrible, so I don't want to do the same thing with my hair and let the professional done it for me. As a woman, hair is very precious, I think long hair and healthy hair is beautiful :D

Nope these days I don't go to neither of the two. I just call my friend to do a home service for me. Same or sometimes lesser price than the usual payment in the salon or barbershop

It's nice to have talented friends. Especially ones you can trust to perform such a personal and needed service.

You are great. When I was small, my father always took me to a barbershop which have a old man cutting hair. So, i even thought all the barbers are old man.
When I was old enough to start paying for my own stuff, I always go to some common barbershops to cutting my hair since I don't mind my hairstyle very much and wouldn't like to spend much money to deal with it.

Hello hdlohnson
Friend, I have a barber shop near my home, it is known as 'Laxmi Hair Cutting Saloon', the owner is my age, we are friends, his sons help him too in the job, he cuts my hair since last 5o years, he dyes my hair, gives massage, trims nails,
The charges are just 50 rupees, a big concession..
I don't visit unisex parlors, too costly..
Thanks for sharing.
Welcome always.
Cheers.
