I have always stuggled with my weight. In the last year and a half I have lost 51 pounds. How? Well most of it came off from stress that I was going through but the last 20 came off after I joined weight watchers. But now I have hit a wall...going up one week down the next. I am having a hard time staying motivated to continue and speically to exercise.
Any advise...what keeps you motivated when your struggling to lose weight?

I too have struggles with my weight. Congratulations on your weightloss! Good for you! It is very hard to stay motivated. I have tried putting pictures up on the fridge. I have tried a chart. When I see the progress I have made and how close I am to getting to the goals, it want to do a little bit more. At the time I also wanted to show my ex! I wish you luck.

Hi
I started my chart with the weight that I was daily. Where I saw my progress. Since then I have added exercise times and want to either match my previous or beat it. I have been told to take measurement of my body and add that to my chart but I don't. It might help as to where I should concentrate. hmmm....

Thanks...I am very proud of losing the weight but I am very depressed about being at a stand still. I do have a picture out of me at my heaviest but it seems that I look at it and say...wow...you have done great but it doesn't seem to give me the motivation I am needing. Maybe I should try the chart idea. What do you do on the chart? Keep track of the weight? Keep track of the exercise?

I started dieting around this time last year. At 20 stone (280lb) I was dangerously obese anyway. But the thing that kickstarted my motivation was an upcoming trip to Vegas in the Sept of last year. My best friend wanted to do a skydive and as I had always wanted to do one myself, and so had the other 2 in our group, I was determined to join him! I had to be under 240 in order to be able to do the jump, so I had 6 moths to lose the 40lb. It was really tough, because I had never dieted before, but I always had that in mind, I couldn't bear the thought of either the mortification of being told I was too heavy, or being miserable waiting onj the ground while watching my friends go and jump, potentially ruining my holiday.
On my retun from vegas i have put about 10lb back on, needing a decent goal to make me do it again, finding it really tough at the moment although my new 'slimmer' clothes getting too small has pushed me a little! I recently bought a tshirt from a concert that was expensive and too small for me, that's my next target. To fit into that in order to go to antoher concert in summer. Not as tangible but it's something!
Good luck with your own motivation.

Congrats on your weight loss! It isn't an easy thing and I think we both know that. I big motivation of a trip is a good one. I am going on a trip to AZ and NM to meet my boyfriends mother but that is only in 2 weeks so not much time there...LOL! I keep trying to keep in mind that summer is just around the corner and I need to stay on track but it is so hard. I sure hope things work out well for you and good luck!

While I have to admit that I am a "scale-junkie" and have a hard time staying away from it - the scale can be our worst enemy. Frequent weighing can discourage us - we get on the scale and are up a pound or so, and automatically, we think that our weight loss program is not working - when, in fact, it is probably just a natural fluctuation in our weight due to water retention or other factors (monthly cycles, etc).
The best thing to do is to pick a good, healthy diet plan - follow it as closely as possible - have faith that eating in a healthy manner will eventually result in weight loss - and stay off the scale!

First off, congratulations! That is a huge accomplishment and I wish you all the luck in the world to keep dropping those pounds. I keep trying to stay motivated. In 6 months I lost 10lbs. The motivation for me came when I realized my clothes weren't fitting anymore. When I got into a new size it was a huge day for me. So I Kept going. Things have since fizzled out, but that was a big thing for me.

Congratulations on your success as well. Sounds like you are happy with the results. I have gone down 2 sizes in clothing but I still have a ways to go. I would like to lose another 30-40lbs...some more big weight...but I am at that point where it is harder to get off. I have had serious back surgery so most exercising is rough on me but I do what I can. I know I have to buckle down hard in order to continue to lose but staying motivated when it is such a slow process is rough.

my biggest motivation to lossing weight is looking regularly to all my dresses that i usually used when i was still slim not to mention those clothes i havent worn eversince cause of weight gained during pregnancy. by this, it gives me inspiration for me to concentrate lossing weight cause now a days its expensive to buy new sets of dress...

I will say that I have been overweight for too many years so I have no goal clothing to set out. I will say that I have kept a few of my old pieces and when I get discouraged I put them on and see how far I have come but that doesn't seem to be motivating me enough lately.
