PayPal Question

United States
February 12, 2009 8:31am CST
Someone asked me a question, and I can't find an answer in paypal. Maybe someone here can help me? person #1 wants to send money to person #2's paypal account, but person #1 doesn't have a paypal account. Can that be done without #1 opening an account? I think it is a funds transfer, not a purchase or anything.

I actually dealt with this a few weeks ago. NO, the first person does not have to have a PayPal account. Have person number 2 send an money request to person number one. That person can pay using a credit card without opening up a PayPal account.

Oh, I am pretty sure it has to be a credit card not a bank account though.

My sister is the one who informed me of this a few weeks ago. Her friend needed to PayPal me some money and she did not have a PayPal account.

To my knowledge, mykl's statements are correct. As far as I know, you can transfer to your OWN bank account, but if you wish to transfer PayPal funds to an individual, they too have to have their own PayPal account.

Yes, it can be done. I have done it. P#1 just needs to know P#2s paypal account address. Money can me sent from a credit card I know for sure because that is how I did it. P#2 will be notified right away so they will know exactly when it goes through.

I am afraid that I really don't know. I'm not sure that I was aware that you could send money to someone's Paypal account unless you are myLot or E Bay etc. But what do I know?

Both parties would hav to have a paypal account. I am not aware of anyway of tranferring funds via email. Person # 1 needs to open a paypal account to receive the funds.

You can't send money to a paypal account that doesn't exist. Where would the money go?

*LOL* I guess that was kind of confusing, wasn't it? The person sending money doesn't have a paypal account. The person they are sending it to does. It has been taken care of, though.

Hey bo, Without an account, there is no place for the money to go to, unless they have another account with a bank. Then you can transfer by wire transfer. They will need a routing numbeer and account number. Hugssssss leenie

leenie, the person receiving the money does have an account, the person sending it does not. It was taken care of, though, so it's all good.*S*
