I cant believe we're once again having a Friday the 13th! Everyone says its a bad luck day, even though im not sure why. But i have experienced bad luck on this day a couple of times as well - im going to skip college tomorrow - i usually avoid going out on this day and give fate less chance to make the day bad for me.

you've probably had just as much bad luck on tuesday the 19ths too, but don't put it down to the date. if anything, 13 is a lucky number, being associated with the Moon, as there are 13 Lunar months in a Solar year. and Friday is a day associated with The Goddess Freja, and with Love. so Friday the 13th, if anything superstitious, is a day you can hope to be Lucky in Love.

a random day I picked as an example. if you expect bad luck on a particular date, you'll remember when bad luck just happens to fall on that date. and forget the fact that bad luck happens on all the other days too, but are just put down to bad luck, rather than the date.

Galena, your first poster to answer explained it best here. In many cultures the number 13 has always actually been considered lucky. I think the only reason it got a negative status since during the Last Supper the night before Christ was to be taken away and was betrayed by Judas, there was a total of 13 people at the supper...so the Christian Church made a "big-deal" out of this. The truth of the matter is that bad luck can happen any day on any date

It seems it is the most popular topic today:) In fact I don't believe the black Friday. It is just another ordinary day for me. Nothing wrong happened to me today:) I love China

Black friday? This is the first time i'm hearing this name. But it suits it - friday the 13th is rumored to be a dark day full of misfortunes. But then again, its just a story. I dont think i believe in bad luck on this day anymore. :) Happy mylotting.

Not everyone says it's a bad luck day. Here in Italy it's Friday 17th which is supposed to bring bad luck not the 13th. I treat it like any other day and whatever will be will be. Just so that you can get prepared (and stay off college again ) there will be more Friday 13th this year - one in March and another in July. Have fun and happy Lotting!

Well, I guess I am not a very superstitious person because I think of it as just another day. The original meaning behind Friday the 13th I don't even know. Of course in the late seventies and early eighties there was the Friday the 13th series which was a pretty popular horror film series. It is funny should bring this topic up though because I'm reading a book about stupid beliefs and superstitions and why people believe weird things... It's an interesting book but I have to tell you I guess I'm just a skeptic at heart because I'm still not very superstitious and Friday will come and go just like yesterday did. happy Mylotting!

Whoa! A series with that name would be popular. I think Fear Street (book series by R.L Stein) also has the 13th street which is a popular place to start the story. That's really a coincidence. Its fun to real horror stories, and beliefs that have no meaning, or was given a meaning for no good reason. Things like body-snatchers gets my skin crawling though. Yeah, seems like if we make a big deal of a superstition, it will just grow on us. Thanks for your time. Happy mylotting.

Hi cambiste, I am not superstitious and nothing bad has ever happened to me on Friday the 13th. Our thoughts and our words do have a big affect upon us, so if you expect something bad to happen, there could be a better chance that it will. I remember once on Friday the 13th, we were joking about it at breakfast and a few minutes later, I got up to leave for work. As I was about to cross the road, a black cat ran right in front of me. It was so funny but the day was uneventful. Blessings.

There's a Friday the 13th in March too! It doesn't scare me in fact I'm such a non believer that I think it's lucky! I tend to go against the crowd on things like that. As for fate, I say fate should not tempt me, lol But if you have the fear of it then you should stay home and stay safe. good luck :)

The Europeans and Americans are more superstitious about it than people back here in India or Asia. Personally, I do not care about it and I live it as any other normal day. Just think about it: We have 12 months in an year and we have just 7 days a week. So, we are bound to get Friday the 13th every now and then. Till when will you keep on hiding from it? We live in an age of Science and there is no need to be so superstitious about these things. Have a good day tomorrow and happy mylotting!
