Hi all.
My little six year old is going into hospital tomorrow to get his tonsils and adenoids out. Does anyone know how much i should or shouldnt tell him as i realise that he is going to be in a bit of pain or will i just deal with it when it happens. Please help really emotional about this. x

hi ickleannie...tell him about the positive things. you could fix his favorite meal the night before. then after the surgery promise him popsickles, or slushies. ice cream or yogurt. i read this online from others that went thru it with their kids or had it done when they were a child.

just remember many little ones have gone thru this and came out well. they say it takes from a few days to a week to be able to eat normal again. i've had to be at the hospital with my mother who is elderly so i know what it's like to be there with a loved one and see them in pain. but they do come thru it. it's something that has to be done and he'll be the better for it afterwards. i will keep the both of you in prayer. you think good thoughts and hold on. many loving parents have been in your shoes. and they came out of it to swap stories online with others. so you just keep in mind that this is for the better and once the surgery is done, at first it will be slow steps to heal and then each day it will get better. i will be thinking of you and keeping you in prayer. God is with you and bigger than the situation. grace and peace to you.
