Does anybody know? A friend told me this would be beneficial. Our dog stinks. I love her, but she does. We bathe her. She is healthy, accept for an allergy. A friend told us that their dog stunk too. Until they put cedar chips in the doggie bed. We do have a dog bed. Just wondering if it actually works. How do you deal with doggy smell?

Does your dog live inside or outside? If outside, cedar chips will help alittle bit. Inside I recommend Febreze. We do this to our HAIRY SMELLY doggies. Also taking your dog to an actual groomer helps too. We try to get ours groomed at least once a month by a groomer, but we brush and spray stuff on them every day.

I certainly would be asking my vet before I sprayed my pet with the likes of the chemicals in Febreze. Dogs groom & lick themselves and I can't see ingesting that being healthy for them! The chemical affects may not be immediate, but I bet they can have a cummulative effect! I truly caution using chemicals with pets!

I don't know if it would really help or not, but it can't hurt to try it and see. You can get some cedar bedding stuff at a pet store for fairly cheap. Just get a smaller bag of it and see.

I would think something with baking soda would work. Because wouldn't the cedar chips make your dog smell like cedar and after awhile that might get old to. It is probably the dog sweat so maybe bathing her in baking soda and then sprinkling it into he bed so odors can be absorbed might help some but it is best to ask the vet. Maybe they can tell you something more about your dog and maybe the sweat glands.

I've never tried it myself. I have heard of people using cedar chips to control odors. I've also heard dog odors usually have something to do with the dog's ears and bacterial infections. Not sure.

I have a spray they use in nursing homes for biological odors. I also wash everything once a week. But my dog is not overly odorous.

the cedar does help.some breeds of dog's like husky have a musky smell.they have a oil coat to help with the cold.try to give her a bath in milk or tomato juices or drink.both will help her skin and may that the smell away.

Just a few things that my vet related to me! Some dogs, like some people tend to be more odoriferous, and bathing more often can create the dog's skin to create more natural oils, which can be smelly...so you can compound the problem by bathing more! She suggested an oatment bath...rub all over with dry oatmeal & brush vigorously! As to cedar chips, my understanding was they were to be used for the control of fleas in the dog's bed! When I asked the vet, she cautioned me that the Cedar Chips must be encased in a heavy covering as the cedar oils can create a nasty allergic reaction! And it is nasty, I know, I am highly allergic to cedar! Cheers!
