The world economic crisis could unstablize countries making it easier for terrorist to be active. Countries are also cutting back on their defense budgets which could leave them open for terrorist attacks.
"Time is probably our greatest threat," Blair said in prepared remarks released before he spoke to the committee. "The longer it takes for the recovery to begin, the greater the likelihood of serious damage to U.S. strategic interests."
What do you think? Is this our and the rest of the world's great risk factor as a far as a terrorist are concerned?

Any kind of economic crisis makes terrorists find more chances to attack a country, a state. Not only terrorist attacks number might increase, but also robberys, shoplifting, among others, will increase. Robbers are usually unemployed and poor people.

it is true that when the economy is bleak, people just turn to terrorism or to acts of terrorism.
actually, this always happens when people feels like suffocated, so hard to move and breathe, because of extreme financial difficulties. when people resort to terrorism, they just couldn't care less what happens to them. what counts will be to be able to get out of or cope with the hard times.
in other words, when the economy of a country is affected by a crisis, the people are easily corruptible. when the stomach goes hungry, the person is willing to go through anything just so he could be well fed.
now, this situation is even powered even more when governments cut budgets on defense. you can just imagine how well and fast terrorists can move now, as well as, recruit more new members.

Ever wondered why the Terrorist of all places chose the World Trade Center?
They knew if they attacked a big part of the economy, it would ripple effect down the system, and that is exactly what they did in the US, and in India when they attacked their targets in NYC and Mumbai...
There reasons being is..
Bad economy, We have money and resources..
We can step in to provide jobs, humanitarian aid, and fool people into our agenda..
lack of money again brings down defence forces...
Jails are full police departments do not have enough money to pay their officers and they do not have room to throw the new criminals or house them in their jails...
The economy is increasing homelessness, increasing crime, and people desperate for jobs, homes, and money are turning to criminal activities and organizations...
So yes, definately the global economy is the biggest threat with it all crashing. They need to make new jobs, and new money for everyone.. Get the world out of poverty.. the sooner they do this the less influence terrorist groups will have in their recruiting efforts.. - DNatureofDTrain

I agree. They know they can not take on our military in a fight...so they are attacking our economy instead.

For years now our government has been warning us what an economic down turn could do to our national defense. We owe China so much money that they could destroy our country with out firing one shot. This is why many in the intelligence community have warned us about our trade agreements with China, and other countries. But, no one listened to them, and now we are in a bad situation that could change the world.

Heaven help us if China stops lending to us or calling in the previous loans.
