Do you possess any thing which may or may not be valuable ,but which you always cherish because of sentimental reasons even thougb people may ridicule you for that. For example my uncle has a fiat car which he hardly drives. It is very old and in a run down condition, and even though people often tease him about it,he says he will not sell it or replace it because it is his first car.And yes you guessed right ,he uses the bus to travel......,while the car occupies the pride of place in the car porch....

Let your Uncle be happy with his Fiat Car...........LOL! I do not prefer to keep any such kind of possessions, after all material goods have their life and everything comes to an end. We need to face the reality that we cannot get attached to material goods forever, one day they will become nought. I have some old letters, which I exchanged with my friends and relatives when I was studying. I have not destroyed those letters and sometimes glance through those letters to revive the old memories.

Some old letter and greeting cards can be kept safely for refreshing faded memories. However, my better half has no interest in those letters because they are from my relatieves and friends.

I gave this a hard thought Rose and really I cant find anything to which I am particularly attached. I like all my things but am not very fond of them. Maybe I am careless, maybe I don’t value them properly, but really there is not such thing which is invaluable to me.

Oh well, now that you say of it I think it would be a bundle of chits of paper. Back in those days, we were so poor that we did not have a telephone at home. Both hubby and me would go to work at different times and the one who left later, would scrawl little messages on chits of paper about when s/he would return in the evening and other candy-floss things…we were newly married and very much in love and coming home and finding that little chit was a wonderful feeling. I have kept all of them in a bag at the back of the cupboard…those are precious and yes…a small hand-written note from my son saying ‘you are a donkey mummum…’ I have pasted it on the cupboard with the date on it

Hi Roseo8! My husband own a Volkswagen beetle and I think that car was manufactured in the sixties or seventies. haha..He loves it very much and he was teased about it all the time. However, he sold it to a collector of vintage cars a few years ago because we need some money at that time. And until this day, he always think about his old beetle and told me that if he will have enough money, he will buy another beetle again. Take care and blessings my friend! lovelots..faith

My prized possession is my wristwatch that was gifted by a friend a couple of years ago. It is always on my wrist and I refuse to wear another watch even though my daughter sometimes asks me to wear the other watch. My sister was after me recently to take advantage of an exchange offer recently and get a new watch but I refuse to do that!

i value the two dear daniel (the counterpart of hello kitty) stuffed toys which my then boyfriend now husband gave me in 1999. The sanrio dolls were a hit that time (sold by McDonald's) and he searched at every McDonald's just to be able to give me those dolls because it is always out of stock. It's the effort he exerted just to give me what he knows would make me happy because I am such a fan of sanrio stuff.

Yes Rose.I do have two sarees of mine that I cherish though they are not in a fit condition to wear. One is a green silk saree which I wore when my husband came to see me first, and the second one is one of my wedding sarees bought by my in-laws.It has plenty of silver zari in it but the borders are worn out; but I don't feel like giving it away in exchange of silver or money equivalent to that.I don't have the heart to part with these two. Ah!Then there is one more simple cotton saree bought by my friend. It is more than 8 years since she bought it for me.She was a tenant in our house and later, shifted to her own place. We were very thick friends and still are, though we now can talk only by phone on the rare occasion for exchanging greetings on a wedding anniversary or birthday.I rarely wear this because if I wear it frequently then it will tear. The same friend gave me one stainless steel tumbler, in which I drink tea every day. There is another stainless steel vessel bought by another close friend [a very special childhood friend]and I store milk in this everyday. It holds exactly 1 litre of milk and so this is excusively used for this.I feel great pleasure recalling them today.Thanks.

Not really actually. My mother, though, old is ,not at all sentimental about anything.Probably the big loss she faced in her life destroyed all sentiments, because she always says that everything is so transient and why be sentimental about objects.I lost my only brother when he was 17 and that too in an accident.Soem men also get senmtimental about things.I guess it all depends on the level of emotional attachment they have in their nature.

Hello dear.....Well infact I hardly thought of my closet while starting this discussion......But now that you have brought it up,I too have many sarees and churidars in my cupboard which I hardly wear, but which I will not dream of parting because they all hold some precious memories for me.Its not that we are being materialistic, but just sentimental, and I think we women are more sentimental than our better halves...........

Wow... that is very odd of your uncle... but my boss has a lot of home appliances that are like 50 years old... and she is still using them... she can afford to buy new and nicer ones... but she refuse... In my case... my favorite possession is my bed... it is made of wood... and it is like the very first thing that i bought for myself... and if i could have taken it abroad with me years ago... i would have...

Hello aseretdd,Well in the olden days when we bought our things ,especially household items ,we always did that with a long term view.It is only recently that exchange offers are becoming popular and people start replacing their two or three year old used items with new ones. And Yes I can imagine how much you cherish your bed that you bought for yourself, probably from your own savings........Thanks for sharing and happy mylotting to you.....

My favorite possession doesnt have anything to do with sentimentality it is just something that I really love. I havent had it that long though so I am still working on the quirks with it. It is my digital camera. Its a panasonic lumix. I had a model before this one and I adored it but I let my daughter use it and she dropped it and broke it so I had to buy anyone one. I liked the ease of use that came with the other one I had but this model is for slightly more advanced camera users. I rarely go a day without taking at least one picture so I would be lost without this camera. I bought it on ebay. It was a great deal and I was so happy to get it! I absolutely love my camera! I guess I'm a little camera crazy:)

Hi Rose, I don't think I have possessed any such material. But my nature is little bit close to your uncle's nature. When I use something I have developed a close relation with the same and if I get a substitute, good and costly than the old one then also I felt difficulty to give up the old one. (lol) Old is Gold. What about you, you said about your uncle only. Do you possess any particular things like your Uncle?

Come now sree...I am sure you have in your possession some items which you will not liek to part come what may.....Well I have many precious items with me which I treasure and which I will not part with......Old pictures, and post cards, and cassettes, stuff like that....Infact I had a transistor which my father bought for me when I passed my 10th with flying colours.after many years of usage,it finally could play only one malayalam station. My hubby and sons used to tease me about the junk that I was using, but I gave no heed to their teasing, and it always occupied a pride of place in my living room. Finally my elder son bought me a new transistor with his salary, and that is when I yielded and replaced my old transistor with the new one he gave me..

I have a few things. First, I have my very first teddy bear. The ers are half ripped off, it is missing one eye, and it has been burned, but I still have it and I cherish it very much. Second, I have the only stuufed animal that my son had before he passed away. It is very sentimental to me because with it in the house, I just feel that he is with me always. Third, I have a homemade card that my husband made for me on the first anniversary of the day we began dating. It means a lot to me because he took the time to make it for me.

I am not sure what my favorite possession is. I think it would have to either be my car or my computer. I depend on both of them daily for different reasons and I would probably be more lost without my computer than my car since I could still get around town via rides from friends, my bicycle and public transportation if I absolutely had to (though I hope I won't).

I would have to say this laptop of mine is one of my favorite possessions currently, but I have so many like a bookmark, a paper with a blood stain (I know it's odd), and candy wrappers (another odd one). I like my laptop 'cause it was given to me as a gift by my aunt and uncle who were like my parents, and this one is really helpful for me 'cause I use this for work.

I have a bathrobe that was my dad's. I snagged it when he passed away along with a stuffed garfield toy that I'd bought him a month previous. My brothers kind of picked on me as he certainly had things of much greater monetary value. I cherish it and wear it often. It's a bit big but comfy and well, just makes me think of him. After my mom passed last year, my brother came knocking on my door. He'd been going thru her belongings. He presented me with her bathrobe, saying "I'm surprised you didn't smuggle this out but I'm sure you want it. he also gave me her rosary beads and a couple of other little tokens.
