I use my hubby's metal cleaner, lol . they sell it here: http://www.superslickstuff.com/ it works great! no grease or anything like that, the spray is very clean, and even helps with finger smudging. I use it on my refrigerator's finish too.

just buy a bottle of brasso at walmart, it cleans off rust spots, and make sure your knives are dry before putting them up, dont leave them in the washer over night and let them iron oxidize cause steel will be steel, but brasso will clean them right off. just dont use too much.

Hi lynnchua, it’s quite difficult to take good care of knives made from iron. I have some good quality ironed knives which could serve their purpose when cutting the whole chicken into pieces. They still would be rusty and look really indecent, no wonder how careful I tried to take care of them. I felt fed up to remove the rust often before using them. So kept them as antiques and won’t use them anymore after I have got my favorite knives.
Since there are so many good quality stainless steel of different varieties of knives are available in the market, so it’s quite convenient for us to get an ideal one from there. Nowadays I don’t have to take the trouble to remove rust anymore before using a stainless steel knife. What I have to do is to grind the knife once in a while to keep it always in best condition so that I could do my daily cooking more conveniently
Take care and happy posting.
