No Power, No Internet

Yesterday we had high winds gusting to about 50-60 MPH. Trees and large branches were coming down all around us here and I was just hoping that we would not lose power. As I was home all day and on my computer the lights were flickering and twice the internet and phone cut off but came right back on. I was actually on Mylot starting a new discussion when for the third and final time we lost it all, power, internet and phone. I had also just put a load of laundry in the washer, which stopped in it's 1st cycle. It was around 2:30 in the afternoon and there was not much to be done. I got bored real fast, it is amazing what happens when we lose all power now a days. I could have cooked dinner on the grill since it is still out, I use it all year long. I didn't want to open the refridgerator because I was not sure how long we would be without power. I got all the candles together and a few flashlights set up before it got dark. My husband came home from work early due to the power being out at his job too. He cleaned up with cold water and then we went out to eat dinner. We all survived with no problem and have been in this situation many times in my life. BUT, OMG! I got so bored and had nothing to do but sit quietly alone. I had read all the books in my house, the battery on my laptop didn't last too long, my house was already clean and you can only play so many games of solitare. We get used to all the gadgets and the internet that when we do not have them, we go a little crazy. What do you do when you are all alone and do not have power? How do you handle being alone with nothing to do?
