It is serious for me, finding that my lovely cat named Musky eat a kitten. It make me sad a lot! First i saw it carrying the kitten i thought that it carrying it to its place. But then i saw it with my own eyes - Musky let the kitten on the ground and then eat it!!! That was not the first time i saw Musky behaving like that. Is it because i didn't feed it? But i do gave Musky meals, three times a day. Why is Musky behaving like that? Have you ever experience this kind of behaviour to cats?

That's not abnormal in the animal kingdom. But usually An animal eats someone of his kind if he is really hungry. Are you sure you're feeding her properly? No disrespect here. That was a bad joke, I'm sure you're great parent to her. Maybe it was from the heat. Sometimes animals go crazy if it's to hot outside.

Hmm, is hot also a potential reason? Well, yeah my house is so hot during daytime i think it usually reached 40 celcius degrees. Maybe that is the reason. Thanks Arjen07 i'll see what i can do.

It is normal. Specially if you have a wild cat. I have seen our cats do this to their own kitties. I think that their animal instinct tells them to do that. If they find that their babies aren't stronger enough to survive, they will kill it. It can also be that your cat doesn't want to be disturbed or being noticed by people that's why they have this crazy attitude of i will kill my own and hide it if you don't stop bugging me thing. I have seen not only our cats do this, but usually the hamsters to it. They are the most savage creatures i have seen eating their babies. When hamsters are young and they give birth, they tend to eat their offspring too. So don't also include their father since that male hamster is a monster too, he will eat the babies too. But not to dismay you, at least you have certain precautions of these pets are doing, So you better be giving them privacy if they give birth of course.

I'm sorry that your cat Musky eat a kitten. If Musky is an unfixed tom that is the reason he is doing that. When i was a girl living on the farm our out door cat had kittens. One day when they were very small I went out to play with them and found that something had eaten some of them but had left the heads. A tom cat will eat the baby toms so that they will have access to the mother kitten and the other females when they are grown. He will also eat the kittens so the females will come into heat sooner than she will if she raises the kittens.

Mother cats do that when they are deficient in some nutrients and Tom cats do this so that female comes in to heat soon. But there is tom cat near our house and he is wild but is vey protective about his offspring.......

I have a cat that has done this with her pups , she didn't have lack of food. Also I have been very sad for this The veterinarian said that the cats fell when a proper pups doesn't have hopes to survive.Second me it absolutely is not a problem of hunger ,perhaps the father of the pups is not proper to do kitten with your cat and the pups are not born healthy...
