I have an old aunt who is 80 years old. last summer she went to computer course for beginners. I found it so cool and great thing to do because despite a fact that she is pretty old and alone, she still tries to enjoy life and live with its movement together. I amaze such susceptibility! Have you ever helped to improve older people computer skills? If yes, how did it go?

Yup, my mum who's in her late 70s, wanted to learn how to use the computer, or rather certain keys, so that she can play games on the pc.. She now plays online mahjong and some other games !

Hi there. I've always planned to introduce my Mom to the world of computers and the internet but just couldn't find the time to do so. I've actually started clearing out our desktop to make it easier for her and my Dad to use but I've never really gotten down to start teaching them things. I hope I could get the chance to do it since I think they would really enjoy communicating with our loved ones abroad through the internet.

I do have older friends who have learned (or are learning) to go online and do stuff with their computer. Most of the time it's so we can all keep up with each other and our families, etc. Heaven knows, it's cheaper to email than to send an actual letter lol. I think my oldest friend on the computer is around 83. My one aunt is her age too, but doesn't have a computer, so we all get together online with her friend. I think that many of the older set are finding getting online a solution to keep up with family and friends, and to meet new friends, and find stuff to do to stave off the lonliness. Lots of my older friends are newbies to this whole computer thing. So, I often help them through the 'what do I do' phases that confuse them. You know, stuff like: my computer is running really slow, so we figure out the why and what they should try (and how to do step by step what they need to try.) I try and help when they ask for it :-) And sometimes I'll butt in with an easier answer to keeping their computer running. Hopefully, I give good help lol. I have to give a lot of credit to those who are much older and want to learn how to use their computer for email, or more. It shows they still have a strong desire to learn and connect (both connect with their computer...and with other people. Pun intended lol)

It's pretty hard to learn them because simply they didn't grow up with them and I understand if it might be hard to learn and understand how a computer work, but after some training they will probably understand how a computer is working.
