Aviators or more specifically little green men in their place

Why is it that some people don't bother to post an aviator?
I can understand newbies not getting around to it, but some people have thousands of posts and still don't have one. What's you take on this?
Does it bug you to see that generic green person instead of a personalized picture? It bugs me. It makes it seem like they couldn't be bothered to upload something. As if we, the viewing public, aren't worth the effort. Anything is better than nothing in my opinion.

I"ll huff and I"ll puff and I"ll blow your house down. Cat lady - I don't know how to do it o.k.? I hate my little green man but until I can get someone to show me what to do, it cannot be done.

It doesn't really bother me. It just makes me think they are either too lazy or do not have the smarts to be able to understand the complicated method it requires???

It's not all that complicated. It's just a matter of of doing to preferences and uploading it. The hard part is knowing it's under preferences and not profile where it belongs.

Some newbies haven't done it, but I was referring to old timers.

When I saw your subject line, I thought you were going to start a discussion about astronauts and aliens... but no, you meant avatars and the generic one for this site.
Maybe some people don't know how to upload an avatar, or they can't think of a good one to represent themselves. A third possibility is that they want to remain completely anonymous.

That's why I chose that for a subject. I thought it might get some attention. LOL My warped sense of humor at work again.
I found out that some people don't know how. A good one is easy. It's almost anything in their pictures. Cats are always good for kitty people. Cats rule! Even one of those pictures that come with Windows is better than nothing.

hello thecatlady
yes, i enjoy viewing all of the different avatars around here at Mylot. and the little green man bugs me also. btw, i think that your cat that you have on your Mylot avatar is a cutie! but i think that everybody around here at Mylot should take the time to customize their Mylot avatar as well as their Mylot profiles. and like you said about the Mylot avatars, anything is better than nothing. lol and it is easy to change your Mylot avatar, all that it takes to change the avatar is uploading a picture or some clipart. i have seen some really awesome avatars here at Mylot as well as some photographs of people, and i have seen some beautiful avatars around here of landscapes and things of that nature. so everybody that hasn't changed their Mylot avatars from those little green men, had better get to taking a second to change their avatar! lol do it! it is so easy!
take care and have a beautiful evening.

I tend to resound more frequently to those with a picture of some sort. I was going through my friends today turning on notifications and only turned on those for pictures I recognize. I can't remember everyones handle, but I can recognize the avatar.

I enjoy looking at what people have chosen for avatars, and I really like it when people have picted pictures on their profiles. I like seeing where people are, pictures of their pets, etc. When I first joined, it took me a while to figure out where to post a picture and have it be my avatar. I know it could be done, but couldn't find it. Instead of burying it in 'preferences', maybe they need a tab for doing it. Would be easier....

I like seeing the pictures too. Especially when it's a picture of their pets. Meow wags. It is buried. It's hard to find, but I put mine up on day 1 when it was right in my face.

I really enjoy seeing the person's real picture! I added mine. Perhaps the people do not have one or do not trust others to let them see the real person behind the words. Some people feel more comfortable speaking their minds without letting people know who really wrote them! I would rather let people see me and speak my mind.

I like seeing the pictures too. I prefer seeing peoples pets to humans, but it doesn't matter so much what they use. I recognize my friends here from whatever picture they use.

It took me forever to figure out HOW to upload an avatar. Also, they might just be more caught up in answering questions and discussing things than a picture. If they don't have a camera, they might not have any pics to upload. And they might not understand how to use the public domain pics. (I still don't understand how to give them credit, so I don't use them)
Some people, like me, just aren't very tech friendly. I got lucky putting my pic up.

Public domain picture are marked as such. You can use them as long as it's not for profit. In other words, you can't sell copies, but you can post them places like here. Anyway, your dog is much cutter than any public domain picture.
