Have you ever been deeply in love with someone that wasn't interested in you. Was it an extremely negative experience?

I THOUGHT I was still deeply in love with my ex for 2 years after he dumped me. We got back together for about 3 months and I wondered what it was that I was so in love with!!! Needless to say I ended up dumping him this time.
