Would you drink cow urine?

This is not a weird made up question. A company in India is planing on making a drink from cow urine. Ewww. I wouldn't drink such a thing even if it is sterile. What about you? Would you drink it? http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090212/od_nm/us_urine_drink_odd;_ylt=AvvAUBo0lzdKA75l_QA3SuJeW7oF

I guess that is the ultimate in recycling...but I don't think it would appeal to me. I suppose if it's purified and flavored there's nothing wrong with it. The article references a number of health benefits, although I haven't seen research on that. If it was proven to cure cancer and I had cancer, I'd try it...what would I have to lose? You have to wonder what it'll be called...Moollow Yellow?

If it was proven to cure something like cancer, that would be one thing, but there is no proof.

If it was marketed with that type of promise, and there were positive results I would imagine that it would spark a lot of interest and testing.

They get the idea because the cow is sacred in India. Even if it's sacred, why would their urine be also?

If people respond it's a good discussion. I have a lot of Indian friends in real life, so it's nothing about being Indian. I usually post about stupid things Americans do. I don't think it will make us fit. It won't hurt us, but I don't like the idea of drinking a waste product.

I would never touch such a drink, it might even taste nice but just the thought of it would make me want to gag. I have heard that is supposed to be healthy for you though. I'm sure some of the members here from India can enlighten us on this strange drink.

I could never drink any type of urine, regardless of what has been done with it. This is just plain disgusting. I guess if we felt we may run out of water this could become an option. I guess I would just die.

I wouldn't want to drink it either. We won't run out of water. The ocean has enough to desalinize for drinking. We just need to build more desalinization plants. My country has two already and we are building two more.

before anything else, happy valentines Miss Catlady. =) well, i have no idea what have gotten to the people of India but are they out of tehir minds to come up such idea by letting their people drink a cow's urine??? that's very dirty. and i am sure it's dangerous to everyone's health. even to the animals.

It's yucky, but it can't harm you. Urine is sterile. I don't think the cows would like it collected from them. I know cats hate it when you have to help them pee.

I don't think so... Is it supposed to have some sort of special properties?

The article claims it makes you healthy. They base their claim on religious belief and not hard quantifiable science. I guess if you believe it, it might help keep you healthy. I stick to science when it come to putting things into my body, and leave religion to those who believe.

Did you know that the birth control pill is made from female pregnant horse urine? No, I would NEVER drink cow urine. Unless it was in a pill form and didn't know it.

Really? So that's why they shut down all the PMU (Pregnant Mare Urine) farms out west then, eh. Interesting.

That was in the old days. It's all synthetic chemicals now. It's cheaper and easier than the original way.

No way! I can't think of anything worse.. It's not supposed to be drunk, is it. I mean, that's what water and lemonade are for. I'm sure there are much nicer drinks to drink other than urine!

Well I skimmed over the page and saw that it cures 70 to 80 incurable diseases, one being diabetes. So I would if I had one of those incurable diseases, but I don't so no I wouldn't drink cow urine.

I don't believe it can cure all those thing. There is no proof. If it could, then a synthetic version would do the same. There would be no need to drink pee.

I would not drink it! I would drink my own first, why would I want to drink that cows urine? I have heard of this but it is bizarre! Just another way to make a dollar. I think vegetarians would not drink it.
