Where do you find friends!?

I am a fairly introverted personality. I like to read and watch tv and listen to music and I am ok with being by myself much of the time. By trade I'm an editor, and I spend most of my time with paper and my computer. But, every now and again I get the itch to really get out there and let loose. But now that I am out of school and because I'm a freelancer I don't work in an office environment, I find that I don't know as many people as I used to. Where do you meet new friends and people to hang out with? Any ideas?

I have found the best way to meet good friends is through volunteer work, maybe you could do a little maybe once a week, maybe in animal societies, or maybe if you have a community centre you could start a class in teaching others what you yourself is good at whether it is your work or perhaps just something you are interested in and know a lot about...Good luck.
