Why should women be given equality status with men?

The power of women - Women seem to compete with men in each & every field...does it mean that they are equal?

Do you really think that women are equal to men?How are they equal? How can she called an equal? What should she do to call herself an equal? Do they really need the tag equal? According to me women can do some work that men do but not all the work men do ...likewise men can do all the work women can do...wherz the equality?

When one says 'equal' it refers to the equality in rights and status and not the anatomy or the way they look. I think it was Leary who said, "Women who want to equal men, lack ambition!" If you are suggesting that women should be denied equal rights just because she can't lift heavy items, well on that line of reasoning, I would say, a mule or an elephant can do a better job of lifting heavy objects as men. That doesn't mean you have to consider it superior to men. Its not about the type of job that one does or doesn't, there are morality issues and basic rights that come under consideration. Have a nice day!

By all means I definitely think women should be given equal status especially in the work force. If both men and women are doing the same exact job then they both should be receiving the same exact pay, unfortunately most women don't which is unfair. women proved there equal status in handling jobs during the two world wars. So many men went to war that factories for instance would have closed down. Women took over the jobs of the men and were able to handle the jobs the same way as the men did

Many times women who become firefighters do so cause maybe there is a long line of firefighters in the family..like their fathers or brothers. Also, women have to pass the same strenuous tests to become one to qualify...so don't think they would manage being a firefighter unless they had already proved themselves capable.

Some women feel a call for service just the same as men, and feel like they can do it in that field. Not all men are cut out to be firefighters. Firefighters for the most part have to go through rigorous testing. If they were not able to do it, then they would not pass the test and would scrub out.

I agree with you but still somehow feel that not all jobs can be done by women..for example take the firefighters...we know that there are women firefighters too but do you want the women firefighters to fight the fire when your home is burning?I would not want to see women firefighters trying to lift 500lb hoses & large axes to put out the fire.Men are simply more capable in handling this.Men are better at lifting heavy objects ,can exert brute force ....but why should women want to work as a firefighter in the first place?do they want to show that they are equal?

Really? I'm pretty sure men can't have babies, and trust me, that is work! What specific examples of work is it you think a woman CAN'T do?

Does that make it any easier? And once again, what specific jobs do you feel men can do that women can't?

Because all men are created equal by Martin luther King. Or much better God Created us equal. I do know that there are outstanding qualities of a women that make her excel in her chosen career. I am a woman and i also observe that we do like to work hard and follow our dreams. But its not to be boast about. Its not about competition. Guys have abilities as well. There are successful guys out there and its nice. We have different paths and its our choice if we are going to work hard to reach our goals in life, either your a man or a woman. happy mylotting!

I don't think men and women are equal. If they were equal halves they would be the same as one another, as in symmetrical and they are not. They are polar opposites. I like the first responder who brought up child birth. I don't think man will ever truly evolve to birth a child. (The man from Oprah does not count because, well you can read the story lol). I'm not sure how I feel about the labels of men's work versus women's work. I do think that men are suited for some jobs based upon strength, but I would never want to say a woman couldn't do it. I think what we need to focus on is what do we do together. Why do we have to be so competitive anyhow? I've never quite understood that. If a person is suited for a job, task, or what have you why should they not do it? It's an interesting development though. When I was taking a communication class not too long ago we heard a woman who did an entire research project on the differences between male and female communication. There are definate differences. Men want to compete/one-up, and women want to be equals. Perhaps this entire quandry we now find ourselves discussing here is simply that difference. Namaste-Anora

I think men want to be always one-up as since the exsistence of human beings man was the one who used to always call the shots. So its quiet natural to him not to be called an equal.
