What is your sweetie doing for you for Valentine's Day?

Do you even know yet? Hubby and I don't celebrate Valentine's Day usually. Past years it's been nothing more than "Happy Valentine's Day" and then the rest of the day is just like any other day. This year, same as usual, I told hubby not to get me anything. I told him we were not celebrating the day. Then last night I made him special cookies. This caught him by surprise because he said he hadn't planned on doing anything for me. Well this morning I woke up and turned on my computer, by now he'd already left for work. On my desktop on the computer he left a note he'd made in paintshop. A big Happy Valentine's Day, with some hearts that say I Love You. It was very nice to see that first thing when I got on my computer. I don't know if he has anything planned for later. Last year he came home from work with a box of chocolates, so he may plan something similar this year, or he may not. Did you recieve your Valentine's surprise yet? Do you know what it's going to be? Are you expecting anything at all?

we are doing nothing lol, its just another day as valentines day is far too commercial. The way we see it is if you love each other then who needs material objects to say that he he he

That is true too, but I still like to do something special for mine, although rarely does it involve spending money. Homemade gifts are the absolute best for Valentine's day!

hello katsmeow awww, how sweet of your hubby to leave you that on the computer this morning. when it is my birthday, my hubby will have a birthday song playing on the computer for me when i finally get awake and make it to the computer. and as far as getting anything today for Valentine's Day, i guess that the only thing that i will get is to go out to eat this evening. i do not need a box of chocolates to be sitting around eating like that. i struggle with my weight in the winter months of the year, and here soon it will be time for me to start going back to the local walking track again when it warms up some outside. when i do go walking like that, i feel lots better and look lots better too. enjoy your dinner tonight. take care and happy valentine's day!

I'm also looking forward to the warm weather, and being able to get out and walk again. In nice weather my family and I go out for long walks everday after dinner.

My husband and I decided to not to get anything for each other..cards are too expensive, I am allergic to most flowers and I definitely don't need any chocolate. I did cut out a heart in red construction paper and wrote a little love note on it and put it in his lunch. He called me later and thanked me and told me how much he loved it. I think Valentine's Day is nice but I really think it is a big money making day for businesses. I hope you have a nice dinner!

That's certainly true, it is far too commercialized and I don't like feeding into the commercialism. I do buy my kids those boxes of Valentine's for their classmates, but that's the extent of it. I haven't bought an actual Valentine's gift in probably 4 or 5 years. The only thing I did this year was buy a cookie cutter in the shape of a heart, and some frosting and Valentine's sprinkles for the cookies I made yesterday.

Wow, no I never noticed that. I don't buy cards, like ever! Haven't bought one in years. I'm just not crazy about giving or recieving cards.

The only thing I usually buy are the Valentine's the kids hand out at school. You are right, it is commercialized! Have you noticed that if you buy a greeting card they are $3.00 or so (already expensive) But for days like today they are around $5.00...that is ridiculous.

This year, we celebrated hearts day in a different way.. we are here in Boracay to celebrate hearts day and at the same time our fourth year anniversary.. apart from the all expense paid trip, hubby gave me red roses.. how sweet of him!

We are going to a movie later this afternoon (he had to work this afternoon which is highly unusual). Last night he brought home a box of chocolates, a small bouquet of white tulips (I'm dutch!), and a beautiful bowl that I had been admiring in the store the other day! He also makes a big deal about doing something special for our daughter. My dad always did that for me too. I think a father teaches a daughter how she should expect to be treated. He gave her a Webkinz that she has been trying to save her money for. He also handed out some candy to both the kids. We haven't been to a movie together in quite awhile. We're going to see "Taken" with Liam neeson (he's in it.....he's not coming with us to the theater. heehee) Some years, we don't do much and some we do. When it comes from the heart, you can feel it and the size or specifics of any gifts don't really matter. Happy Valentines day to you, Amanda!!
