Have you ever gone to a jazz club?

Something small and intimate? I haven't and without an hour and a half drive to the south I'm probably not going to be able to anytime soon. I'm working on a story where two characters meet in a jazz club by happenstance sorta. He's a musician there. I'm leaning towards piano and she loves the atmosphere. I first got into jazz music a year or so ago thanks to some friends of mine. I'm still floating through things and I'd like to know about some of your experiences. Care to share?

I went to one many years ago, I went with a friend who loved jazz music where I loved rock music but i am willing to experience any type of music, it was a small place where everyone just jat on the floor basically which i found very uncomfortable and the three piece band just played their music, it was a good night but not really my cup of tea.

Well it was just a small place and they didn't have chairs just little make do tables...was uncomfortable to sit like this for a couple of hours..

The UK has a big network of jazz clubs, all in small bars or private clubs. Entry is low cost and so are drinks! Most of them are more trad jazz than modern but it varies - my nearest modern jazz club is in a big plush office social club, brilliant bar and atmosphere, and very intimate.
You can't enjoy jazz anywhere BUT in an intimate atmosphere!

Hey, good luck with the writing by the way! I started a novel some time ago, based round the fortunes of a brit amateur jazz band. It's good but I kind of lost my way a bit. I'll finish it one day.

I have been to several jazz clubs and I used to work in one. I don't get out as often as I once did but I will go if there is someone I really want to see.
