meat pie

I prefer not to eat meat these days but when I did eat meat i used to love meat pies with tomato sause, I love the pastry so I used to eat the meat out with a spoon then eat the pastry, I have since found a vegetable pie made by sargents with the same sort of pastry so I buy them these days and I do the same eat the middle out then eat the pastry...but there is nothing like the smell of a meat pie and sauce that someone else is eating...

I loved meat pies when I was growing up in Australia. I miss them terribly. None of the chicken pot pies here in the States even come close to the texture and taste of Aussie meat pies. And we don't have the same yummy tasting milk shakes either. Oh, it's awful having a craving with no way of satisfying it. GREAT!!!!

To be honest I think there are meat pie types all over the world. For instance in Hispanic cultures they are called empanadas, and have all kinds of fillings, not just meat. Then there are the pot pies, which I've made (both chicken and beef types)...my favorite is a recipe I found in Justin Wilson's cookbook....called Louisiana Meat Pies...it's basically ground beef, butterbeans in a tomato type sauce and cayenne pepper which makes them real spicy hot..but I love them. What kind of meat pies do you have?

The only meat pie I love are pork pies. They are 100% british. I love them cold. You are putting a longing on me now!! I havent had one for a while.... :-)
