is the $99 iPhone for real???

I've heard that apple is releasing a $99 iphone (2.5G), although they said some features will be disabled. But it is sure to have wifi and bluetooth.They say that the manufacturing price is 145-150 usd but they are still selling it such a big loss? and also the great part about it is that it won't be locked to just AT&T!!
What do mylotters have to say about this?

I have not heard this before.If it is true it will be awesome .I think many people around the world will jump to buy this with some features are still missing.Actually I wish to buy an apple Iphone ,but the heavy price restrained me.If it comes down to $99 I will buy at once.
