I like my french fries soft. My partner likes his crunchy. Now there is a debate as if I am a freak of nature. Which do you prefer?

I like mine nice and crunchy and thick, in fact I leave them in the oven too long to get crisp, I hate soft and soggy chips and the ones from McDonalds are the worst, they are full of salt, tasteless and very stringy. I prefer a proper chip and it has to be done in the oven, I won't eat fried chips especially from a chippy, all that grease YUK! Sorry I'm with your partner on this one!

I like them in between usually. I don't think you are a freak though for liking them soft. I think it also depends on the type of french fry.

Definitely Crunchy if we're talking about Orida(sp?). I like the extra crunchy ones you can get in the frozen food section of the grocery store. If we're talking about MacDonald's, BurgerKing, I like them softer, but still erect. Damn, did I just say I like soft but erect fries? How about stiff...no that sound pretty bad too... Check out all the responses you've gotten from this post in just an hour brokentia! Think you're on to something.

Your telling me! I had no idea that Crunhy vs Soft fries were so important beyond my household! My partner once made french fries too long and I refused to eat them when they were hot....so, when they start to cool, they soften some. LOL Anyways, he thought I was being stubborn because he knew how I like my fries. But when I ate them later...all he did was glare at me! LOL I think it is funny how we have a rivalry over fries. Nice to know that I am not a freak! LOL By the way, I had a hard time trying to find a way with my words to not make it sound preverse either. Not easy! LOL .....crunchy but still erect? hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

You would like our British chips, then, which are like french fries only rather thicker and soft inside, golden on the outside but mostly not crunchy. When you get to the bottom of the bag you generally find some smaller, crunchier ones. The only freaky thing is that you live in the wrong country!

I like my french fries crunchy. I don't really like soft french fries, since it's all mashes up. I rather eat marsh potato in that case. I like it crunchy and it's really yummy when it's just out of the oven, or toaster, or fryer. :) Yup, so I like it crunchy!

have to admit its crunchy for me every time. If they are soft, to me it just means the fat wasnt hot enough in the first place blessed be

I like them golden crispy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside. Our old oven had cooked unevenly, gradually getting worse and worse, so they were either really soggy but warm, or burnt. It was great getting the new oven and having a proper fry again!

I just love my french fries0 to be nice and crunchy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside! Also if you want to make some mexican fries (very tasty believe me!) here is a recipe! MEXICAN FRENCH FRIES 1/2 lb ground beef French Fries sour cream Tostitos con Queso Cheese dip green onions 1 pkg taco seasoning mix Preheat deep fryer, then brown ground beef in skillet. Add 1 cup of water to skillet, and 1/2 cup of salsa for taste. Deep fry French Fries until golden brown (approximately 15 minutes). Melt 1/2 cup of cheese dip in microwave. Put French Fries onto a plate, then top with ground beef mixture, cheese sauce, sour cream and diced green onions. Makes approximately 2 servings. Enjoy! More at cooks.com!
