I'd like to as you, if you're older (dying age) who do you want to take care of you?
a. someone who's hired to take care of you?
b. home for the aged
c. family members
d. I'd rather be alone.
I'm posting this question after hearing my mom say that she'd rather be at the home for the aged rather than staying with her daughter in law.

That's a tough question. I don't want to be a burden to my family but I don't want to live in a nursing home either. I'm not sure what I will do. I hope I don't have to make that choice. My Mom stayed with my sister for quite awhile until she couldn't take care of her anymore and then she had to go to a nursing home. It was hard on everyone. I think I would rather my family take care of me but like I said, I don't want to be a burden on them. Hard decission.

I think that we would all like to remain independent for as long as we can. But, if I have to make a choice between a family member and a hired helper, I'm leaning more toward the hired helper - as long as they are capable of taking care of my needs. I would like to not burden my family. I don't really want my children to have to do things for me that I used to do for them. I don't want our roles to be reversed. I wouldn't mind them opening the door for me and little things like that. But, I don't really want them to have to cook for me every day, clean up after me all the time, give me my meds, etc.. I would rather have my family remember me as the person that I was during my entire life, not the person that they HAD to take care of.

WHEN i'M OLD, i WANT MY FAMILY MEMBERS TO TAKE CARE OF ME. I'VE ALWAYS BEEN GOOD TO MY FAMILY MEMBERS EVERSINCE, I ALWAYS SHOW CONCERN TO THEM IN MANY WAYS SO THAT WHEN I GROW OLDER, THEY WILL DO THE SAME TO ME.
