I think there are many things that go into weight loss other then just diet or exercise. If people exercise, yes they get lots of benefits, and they typically can eat what they want but if they continue to over-eat in calories, especially empty ones or non-healthy ones what difference does that exercise make?
If they simply diet, yet do not exericse what good does it do? The body needs to be moving, doing something, and sitting about all day isn't going to help anyone even if they do eat a healthy diet.
However, beyond these two issues are those of the spiritual and mental. People can diet and exercise all day, but if they still haven't addressed the true isues of their over-weight condition they will always be overweight, or gain it back after loosing it.

I don't worry about weight loss cause I've skinny and petite all my life (not sort of anorexic). But talking about being healthy diet and exercise go hand in hand to a more effective result. I have tried this before and did work and pay off. But when I started taking my Master's things change. I would like to go back to a more healthier lifestyle if time permits.

Both..I need both, I need to watch my diet not only for weight loss but for health reason too. I need the exercise to help maintain my weight and my health. I did change my diet and started watching my portions and I lost weight. Both are very important now because I just got laid off from my job and I don't have any health insurance so I am striving to do both.

i think exercise is far off better than dieting. exercise burns more calories, and surely it makes one healthier when done religiously and doing it the right way. its also more ideal. dieting can be supplemental to exercise, but dieting is easier to do than exercising. if one's work is only in the office, sitting down for hours, that would be very difficult as no movement or little movement is done. exercise is also best recommended for all ages!
my work entales me to move to and fro... i am constantly walking, going up and up the stairs, and i am physically doing exercises already. its not that i have a choice, but it's part of my daily routine.

My priority is an exercise! I never have done any diets and I don't really have a belief in them. I think loosing weight starts in your head and exercises! By doing exercises you learn to control your body and understand the idea about it. After belaying your body with physical activities you won't need any crazy diets to get healthy.

I don't want to chose! You will not look superb if you will just do one. Diet without exercise can make your skin sag and makes you gain your weight again easily. Exercise without diet can turn you into a monster ball.

Both are necessary to obtain what you aim for. I am having a hard time doing both really. There are times that I feel like eating a lot and It seems that i can't stop my mouth. I know it is a matter of discipline. Exercising is a bit strenuous too. You have to look for a routine that you love doing and you are not only bound to do because you are dieting. Both are hard to do but with discipline and perseverance then it is possible to lose weight. I think i would go for exercising but it should be something that I enjoy of.

These two things are really essential in weight loss. But I am not the type of person who could stick to a planned diet for a long time.So I will go with exercise.Exercise does not only aids in weight loss but it also keeps the body healthier, stronger, flexible and more alert. My kind of exercise includes dancing, jogging, lifting weights (around 5 pounds only )and stretchings. This make my muscles toned and lean. I don't stick to a certain diet but I try to eat as healthy as I could possibly eat.

for me i would choose exercise, exercise doesn't hurt your self even your appetite. its good to exercise and eat food you like at the same time, i usually eat what i want and do exercise i think it work best than doing diet, and also exercise is good for all body function.
happy mylotting.

Though both are essentials for successful weight loss, I think I would opt for diet as it doesn't consume my time so much as exercise. I only need to have strong will to refrain from eating high calorie foods and still be able to play on my time in surfing while exercise one need to get going and sweat the body out.

Both are to my lifestyle at the moment. I don't really watch out i eat though, i eat what i want i just don't over do it anymore and i don't just eat out of boredom.
i think Exercise might be a little more important then diet because sometimes going on a diet won't do crap but not going on one and just exercising more works.
but everyone is different. I think you need both but not diet in the sense that you cut out foods. doing both i think works better and faster and it's probably more healthier that way too because were suppose to watch how we eat and exercise.
if i had to pick to do just one though i would pick working out, exercise.
because i need it and not just for weight but it helps me relive stress and sleep better at night.

My experience has taught me that although you definitely need both to speed up weight loss increasing exercise works well for me. I don't believe in dieting because, as I have mentioned before, the minute I tell myself I am on a diet I will develop an uncontrollable craving for chips or chocolate! For myself the best solution for weight loss is eat whatever I like only if I am truly hungry and not sad, bored etc... cut down portion size and increase time spent exercising. So I between diet and exercise I would choose the latter.

I think those two are manageable with me because I already doing it...sometimes I could not just follow it if ever I encounter my favorite foods, that would always be my problem...you have a nice topic..

I am also watching my diet because I am currently experiencing build-up around my belly and I hate it, right now I am very busy with my work and I have no time to go to the gym and have exercise, I have no time also to jog since I became sleepy in the office if I have to wake up early.
Right now, the most comfortable way of losing weight for me is dieting, I consumed more fruits and vegetables right now and minimized meat and sugar intakes. I stop drinking softdrinks and coffee also, I drink green tea daily with honey to moderate waste-build up. But I really have to discard this build-up in my belly because I cannot wear skimpy dresses anymore.

hi modstar! i prefer to diet than exercise. i am lazy! though i can do some little stretching here and there, and i also sweat a lot when making love (ha ha!).. but i think being strict about my food intake is more manageable. excluding of course, chocolates. i can give up anything except my chocolate bar!
