I've heard people say "I'm fighting myself." People have said that it means that you're trying to do good when the bad tries to take over... I know I 'fight myself' sometimes... What have you fought yourself about? Are you still fighting yourself? What is the fight for?

For me the "fight within" is actually not a fight on good vs. bad, it is more like Natural needs vs Civilized society. There are lots of different things that can make you "fight yourself" but if you don't fight and just let the nature take over you will see that it is really better option - you feel better, you are happier, you are healthier. That is because your instincts know better than you most of the times. And of course there are things that you should stop yourself from doing. Examples: You want to eat something, but everyone you care for will think bad for you - Your inner fight is "Natural Need vs Society's opinion"; You are annoyed by someone, but he might get mad at you for telling him that - Your inner fight is "Your happiness vs. what will other think"; "someone derive you insane with his actions you want to beat him mercilessly, but then you will go in jail - at this case your inner fight is actually between your Nature instinct of preservation and your social understanding of preservation. In first two cases you should do what nature make you do since that way you will feel better, your body will feel better and if you don't care about society's opinion the society will not have bad opinion about you. In last case you should stop yourself from doing what you want since in this case you will be punished by the society and this will not help you to preserve yourself. Most of the instincts we have must be let to be, but there are some that we must "fight" with since we live in society, and society don't like when someone is different, when someone is better, stronger etc. and demonstrate it. Society want you to be humble and obey to the rules.

I think overall from time to time we all fight with ourselves. We fight over feelings, depression, anger, and sometimes just life itself. We start off on one path in life to often find out or think later that we should have tried something else. It is just something that happens, and when we learn to use good self talk and encouragement upon ourselves we will be better off as well.
