My hubby is suffering from quite sometime from cough.. Though it doesn't happen everytime, only when he talks a lot or eats something spicy. He's also allergic to dust. He got all his tests done, everything is normal, physician advised him to avoid exposure to dust, talk less, not to eat spicy food. Inspite of taking all these precautions, it still occurs at times, most of the time with mucus. Sometimes, he'll not cough for a day and sometimes it is prevalent for most of the day. Can anyone give me a homemade remedy for the cure of this cough as I, predominantly, believe in Naturopathy for cure of any disease. Thanks in anticipation.

It is a easy homemade desert . put four ware eggs without shell in a plate and 100ml cool water , put the ginger juice and milk powder or milk in . then ,mix them together well and last steam it in a boiled water 5 minutes .That is finished .You should have it in a little hot ,not cool it down completely .May your hubby be better soon.if you have any unclear ,you can ask me at any time.

Hmmm...is it possible his cough is being triggered by reflux? Spicy foods are notorious for creating this problem. If so, he might have to see a gastroenterologist. You did say however he often produces mucus as well. If yellow or greenish, it could point to a bacterial infection. Make sure this isn't the case, 'coz he'll need antibiotics for sure. The cough won't go without it, and the sooner he gets it the better. The bacteria going around nowadays can kill if not dealt with early. Otherwise, honey, and lemon tea are both good, as discussed by others above.

Recently I learnt this remedy from a mail that had come to me. It was confirmed by my friend as effective. Apply "Vicks Vaporub"[Now this is an OTC ointment containing Natural oils like Eucaliptus Oil,Menthol etc.,that is available in India and similar preparations may be available in your country] this on the soles of the feet and wear a pair of woollen socks above. That should stop persistent cough.

Thanks for your valuable suggestion. I guess the treatment you suggested is for night application, but thankfully, at night, he does not cough much and sleeps comfortably. But still I'll keep this in mind for future application, if this problem is encountered by anybody.

Why don't you try naturally fermented vinegar. Take a spoonful of vinegar especially before going to sleep. This is my usual home remedy for my cough and even my tonsilitis. Recently, I got terribly sick when my tonsils got inflamed and just had few spoonfuls of vinegar. make sure that you have eaten to avoid hyperacidity. Try it.

In the Philippines we have this famous herb for cough. It's called oregano. It's really effective. I just don't know if you have this in your place. In case you have just boil 5 to 10 pcs of leaves in a very little amount of water to produce around 2 tablespoon greeny juice. You may try this.

maybe right, this is the one you're using. The leaves of these are a little rounded and quite watery that when place even on top of the cooked rice, by just squizzing you'll produce juice that can be a medicine already for coughs.

Try a hot ginger drink by adding slices of fresh ginger root to a small pot of pure water and bring to a boil. Allow to simmer. You can drink this throughout the day. The heat of the ginger helps to soothe the throat and calm the cough. I also recommend using a therapeutic grade of tea tree oil. Add one drop to a 1/4 cup of pure water, stir, then use as a gargle and mouthwash.

Recently I came across the medicinal effect of this-boil chopped cabbage in water, and after draining the water add, a pinch of salt and pepper powder to this and drink it as hot as you can.Repeat this thrice a day. On other times, drink only hot water and give your voice a big rest. This will help matters. I am also allergic to dust and get this stupifd thing at the slightest pretext.Apart from antillergy tablets, hot water helps a great deal.Drink only hot water and this is a 'must'.

Homemade remedies are effective. There are cough that cannnot be healed by any medicines but can be minimized by natural remedies discovered by house parents in taking care of their children and family members. My father had a cough. He took medecines. After a long time, his cough became worst. Then my aunte advised him to take hot water with "snowbeer" candy. Then his cough had gone after few days. (I only share this expereince but I dont have intention to promote)

You may be wise not to interfere with the body in this situation. The body uses the cough to rid it's self of mucus so you don't want to stop this unless you can get the body to quit making the mucus. It make this because it is protecting it's self from some type of irritation. If you can find that irritation, the dust and spicy food you mentioned and maybe other things, they are what you nee to work at eliminating as much as possible. many times because of the way we live we just have to put up with the tings the body does. Good luck
