**First and formost** Please be respectful. Please do not harrass anyone for their beliefs. This is an informative topic for questions and answers, not a debate or argument. Thank you! So, My name is Crystal, I'm 23 and I'm a Jehovah's Witness. I know that many people do not like JW's, this post is not for you... I know there are also a lot of people out there that have mixed information about what we believe in and what we don't. Maybe you wonder why we don't celebrate holidays? Maybe you've heard that we don't believe in Jesus (we do). I thought it might be a good idea to have a place were sincerely curious people can ask questions about Jehovah and about what Jehovah's Witnesses believe in and I will do my best to answer all your questions. Also, if YOU are a JW, please feel free to answer any questions you see here also. I want this to be a topic where people can learn about our religion and get the truth about what our religion actually is so that we can clear the air of any "rumors" and lies.

Very interesting post. I am not a Jehovah's Witness, and I really don't know that much about the religion but I do have a question. My son has a boy in his class that is a Jehovah's Witness and he has invited him to his birthday party, before we knew of his religion. Is it against your beliefs to celebrate birthdays? If so why? I was trying to explain this to my son, but found that I really didn't have the answer. Also what about other holidays? I've often wondered why JW's do not celebrate them. Are there any that you do celebrate? In regards to my son's classmate again, for holidays are JW's offended if they are given a holiday card, or something like that? Is it better just to exclude them all together? These may seem like dumb questions, but honestly as I said I really know very little about your religion.

Hi Crystal - I am not a Jehovah Witnesses 'officially' but I do believe in Jehovah God. I would like very much to commend both you and all Jehovah Witnesses for the commitment to teaching others about God. Actually a little over a month ago several ladies were knocking on door in my neighborhood. I have had questions for some time and invited the two that came to my house to return the next week. When they arrived I had a list of questions for them and they very kindly answered every single one of them and every answer was backed by scripture. One of the ladies has been kind enough to come to my home every Saturday morning for an hour or two bible study. I enjoy not only the company but am getting much from the bible studies. She also each weeks brings a different lady with her so I'm getting to make new friends and also get their input on my questions and the bible study. I can't say I'm ready to 'convert' from Free Methodist but I can see from the scriptures where the beliefs of Jehovah's Witnesses comes from and a strong possibility that I will be one of them someday. I don't have a question for you today but would love to add you as a friend and may have questions in the future.
