Can you leave work with work?

With the economies the way they are people must work. That is a given but.... If you and you spouse, life partner, or whatever are required to work at the same location- not necessarily doing the same job but at the same site: Could you leave work at work and not take it home with you? If you can't how would you stop it from running afoul of your home life?
