how do you know what sites are safe?

how do you know what sites are safe? their is so many different sites that you can go to online. weather you are just looking for something or an address or people. their is so many viruses online that will go strait to your hard drives and destroy it. first you would start getting popups or your computer will start going slow and eventually conk out.

i use mcafee siteadvisor. it checks all the sites that come up when you search a keyword. then it gives you a check mark if it is good, and it gives you an "X" if it bad, and a "!" if it is unsure. if you know a website is good but it says it is unsure, you can tell it that it is good, so it will bring it up as a check mark next time.

it's hard to filter sites on basis of safety, but surely u will get under attack by virus while browsing warez sites...sometimes virus can attack on ur system even if u r not browsing, just connected to internet...so better to hire a anti-virus s/w to get safe from these viruses...[;)]

If you have the right tools at your computer like antivirus, malware, firewall. etc. You can somehow prevent infiltration on your computer..It's better to prevent downloading files on the sites that are unknown to you.

If many people are using the site and have no problems we can assume that the site is free from virus but we have see our security we should not post our personal photos to the albums and we should safe gaurd that no one else expect our friends can see our personal data
