I like shopping on ebay but my first purchase was a throw away product. I could not even bare to look at it because the seller said it was jade but it was made of ugly plastic. The second purchase was a 1970/1960 vintage necklace and it turned out to be an ordinary necklace with a plastic pendant. The third purchase was a 925 silver bracelet and necklace and it turned out to be silver plated. I was devastated.
I still shop at ebay but I'm down to books now coz it's a heartbreak when you get fooled and it's a hassle to return the item since the shipment cost a lot.
How was your ebay experience?

when I was buyer I had some bad experiences but it's been a while now I forgot who and what happened. I've been selling on ebay for the last 3 years. the only bad experience was with a buyer that decided not to buy after bidding.
since buyer can rate us negative and we can't rate them negative, I know I had to give it up so I did for the sake of rating. I told ebay about this buyer though because I don't want him to get away with it again.

I have been pretty lucky on there. I have never ventured into buying jewelry, but I have purchased random items (like stickers) and clothing for my kids. So far, so good. The only problem I had turned out to be a post office issue.
I bought some toddler clothing for my son and after a couple of weeks I contacted the seller to see if she had shipped yet. She was concerned because she had shipped them immediately and they should have been here within a couple of days. I started thinking that she was upset that they went for so cheap and decided to scam me but luckily I was way wrong. A few days later I received a notice stating that there was a large envelope at the post office waiting for me, but there was 4 bucks due in postage. I was a little miffed because she offered free postage, but the quality of the clothing was definitely worth the extra 4 bucks, so I didn't dwell on it.
I did mention it to her and she was floored. It turned out, she went to the post office and they weighed and priced it themselves. Apparently they are trying to making an extra buck wherever they can to get themselves through these times. It was irritating but again, it was worth it. The outfits were so adorable - and in the end i spent less than 10 bucks on them - total.

I never shop at ebay, but I do sell items there.
I do not like buying or purchasing from ebay because I am not sure of the product. It's not ebay's fault and can't control sellers regarding their product. As for myself, when I post an item to sell, I have to be truthful with the defects of my product. If it is slightly used, brand new, original or imitation. I know, I would be getting less interested buyers if I have to say the defects, but it is better that way than claim it to be genuine and authentic when it is not for as long as I gain money from it. That's stupid, right? I want to be in good faith and I don't like to fool other people just for my selfish desires.
I prefer buying items or products that I could actually see and fit on. For sure, your money won't be at waste when you see the ACTUAL and that you have tried it on.

I had one deal where I did not get what I ordered, but it was only for a few bucks and I got my money back via ebay. I also ordered a book once that was listed in fine condition. It was actually in horrible condition. But other than that I have have had at least 30 successful purchases on ebay over the years. It pays to check the sellers feedback before bidding on something.

It is not advisable to buy such expensive products online, as you do not get to see the actual product before paying.
That said, e-bay has earned a good reputation worldwide over the years. I have not heard of anyone being cheated by it. I have used it only once or twice and my experience was fine, as I ordered books from there.
That said, Please be cautious from your next purchase onwards. Not just on e-bay, but with any other site. Thanks

I have been scammed tons of times as a seller. I placed items on sale and got good bids for it but they were fake bids. No one paid and it costs me every time I re-posted the bid on ebay again. So yes I have been scammed on ebay and am disappointed in ebay's methods to put an end or catch these people.

i dont often get scammed, i know not tobuy from china vendors unless its paper products and under 10 dollars, 99% of the time, you get scammed. i only buy from 99% or higher rated sellers and rarely new sellers, i like at least 100 feedback. i did buy a nice party lite candle holder one time and because i didn't buy insurance, she put it in a paper envelope and told me i was S.O.Luck, so i filed a complaint with paypal and got my money back..
i dont buy books anymore, i use paperbackswap, i got through soooo many books it makes more sense and its free, plus i'm not wasting books anymore or letting them collect dust.. i can refer you'd like, that way we both get extras =)~

I love ebay and have never had a bad experience with anyone, I am real careful from who I buy from though, I always check feedback and if they have the slightest bit of negative, I don't bid on their item. I am so sorry to hear that you have had bad experiences, I also sell on ebay and I am always fair and honest when selling and everyone should do the same, but they don't. There are some very dishonest people out there. Happy mylotting

Well, i was cheated in a sense.. I bid and won the auction of purchasing a mobile phone at ebay.. was arranged to meet the seller face to face..
And oh god, he left me waiting for 1hr 30mins!!! Been calling him, and he kept saying he is on the way, and let me wait.. Well, he finally arrive.. but after checking on the mobile, the speaker is spoil, not a single buzz at all..
He said he will be back 1 hr later with another phone, same model.. well waiting i am again!!
he is back, another 1hr 30mins.. after checking fast, i paid, (im in a rush of time, been waiting for 3 freaking hours!!!) and stomped off..
The bad news.. another faulty mobile, the LCD light will go off after awhile, and it will not light up no matter what button you press...
3 hours of time and 300 sgd scammed... .

I've only had one bad experience with ebay, and that was when I got a sandisk memory card, and it was fake. But it still works and I only payed $5 for it fortunately. Otherwise, I haven't had any problems. I bought a camera, cosmetics, jewelry making supplies, and things like that, but no problems.
Also I don't restrict my buying to sellers with 100% feedback. Instead, if a seller has 98% or better, I look to see how many sales they have, and why they got bad feedback. Sometimes buyers leave unjustified feedback, and other times, after 5000 sales, sellers just make mistakes.

that's pretty bad and quite scary to buy online. I have an ebay account but I haven't tried buying things from them for fear that I might buy the wrong thing. I guess it is still better to buy in departmetn stores where you can see the items yourself.

More like scammed by ebay, I made one purchase on the auction a camera and it was in the the condition explained. When I received the camera I noticed that the shipping costs were $5.00 more than what I paid so I offered the seller reimbusement for the extra cost. Then ebay stepped in and terminated my account indefinately. Without sending copies of personal documents for identification, they say I cannot be reinstated. If they're this irresponsible with my account I sure don't want them having anything else to lose my identity or who knows what.

No chance i never used ebay till now i hate ebay because everything is over priced there you can not get anything for low price there.
So i suggest you also not to buy anything from ebay insted we can buy from direct merchant websites every company has a online selling website we can trust them and buy from them.

Hello, sorry to hear this but I think it happens more than not. I work in the computer industry so we always have a need for old parts and eBay is a great source. Buying something on eBay is always a shot in the dark. If you buy with PayPal you can log a complaint that usually goes to the buyers side. I have to say only a few times I have bought something that was useless to what I needed. I think there are things like Jewelry and sports collectibles that are tough to buy because of the lack of over site by ebay themselves.
