As you can see from my picture, I'm wearing glasses, but I hate them! I hate wearing glasses, they're such a pain.
I've been wearing glasses since December when I got a horrible eye infection from my contacts, and due to financial contraints, I haven't ordered contacts again...
Until now! I finally ordered them yesterday, it will take about a week for them to come in. I'm hoping they get here by Friday at the latest, because I'm going out of town on Saturday for the weekend, and I'd love to have them before I go on my trip.
Of course this time I will be more careful and not wear my contacts 24/7. I'll only wear them when I'm going out, and will be sure to take them off before bedtime and wear my glasses like I'm supposed to.
Which do you prefer, glasses or contacts? Have you had to put off buying contacts due to financial constraints?

I hope you have better luck withe your contacts this time around. I have to wear my glasses most of the time because contact irratate my eyes. I hate wearing glasses also, so I went to the eyes doctor and got contacts, man I thought I was in heaven! I wore contacts for about two years and I never had any problem with them, then one day after I had been wearing them for a while my eyes started burning and got real red. I thought that I had a eye infection so I went to the doctor and he couldn't find anything wrong. He told me that I much have become allergic to contacts.

Well that's a shame! Was it just that brand or all contacts? Maybe you could find a lens made of different material that you would not be allergic to? I'd hate to be allergic to contacts!

Hmm, have you tried another doctor, maybe they could be of more help than the one you're seeing? There's always Lasik eye surgery if your insurance will cover it. I've never bothered to check if my insurance covers it or not, but I've heard great things about it.

I don't know if its all contacts or not. I even tried different contact solution because he said it could that but it didn't help much. I bet I went through a whole pack of contacts, throwing each one away after only wearing them one day because I thought there was something wrong with them.

I like your new picture, katsmeow, it's a good one. You're lucky that glasses at least suit your face if you're stuck wearing them even part time.
I have worn glasses for the last 4 or 5 years and I've never really considered getting contacts. I just cannot justify having to touch my eyeballs every day! I think glasses look good on me and they really help make the dark puffy circles under my eyes less noticeable. I would much rather throw some cute frames on to look more awake in the A.M than have to mess around with eye makeup (both under and on my eyes). My eyesight isn't that bad so I don't absolutely have to wear them, it's just distances that are quite blurry.

I HAVE to wear them, constantly. I can't see a thing without them, can barely make out shapes and colors, I'm blind as a bat! My prescription is a +5.75 that's pretty bad! I never minded contacts, I got used to them very quickly. I don't really have the puffy eye problem, and I rarely leave the house that often, if I do, just a dab of foundation is good enough if I really feel like hiding it, but normally I don't bother with make up, I don't care too much about my looks. Plus, with my prescription and the kind of glasses I have, they actually make my eyes look bigger, and everything around my eyes, so I'm sure it would just show off puffiness and dark circles better.

I wear glasses now. I used to wear contacts all the time, but I ripped one of them a few years ago. ( I wear gas permeable ones.) Mine are like 100 each contact and I did not have that money at the time. I have just not bothered getting them since. I do need to get some new glasses or new contacts though. My glasses are bent a little and the prescription is not quite right anymore.
Glad you finally got your contacts ordered.

I used to have very expensive contacts too, and I would wear them far longer than I was supposed to because I couldn't afford to keep buying them. Eventually I went to a different doctor and asked for cheaper contacts. The ones I use now are $20 a box, and I get them from Walmart vision center as they're cheaper there.

I have required glasses since I was 11 yrs old and yes it is a major pain in the butt!
I got my first pair of contacts when I was 17 yrs old, because I got my motorcycle license and was living in a big city. I was really concerned about that blind spot, since all the cars either didn't see me or were intent on killing me. Plus I was sick of having to take off my glasses, put my helmet on, then wiggle them in withoutu breaking them. At $300 a pair to replace, I didn't want to break them, nor be unable to see. So, in buying the contacts, I used the glasses as backup in case I lost one or something.
But nowadays the contacts are so cheap ($10/pair), I just buy a couple of packages of 6 (3 pairs) at a time. So, if I lose one, I already have another to pop right in. And I'm lucky that my prescription is the same for both eyes, too. It was very close for many years, but now they are the same.
And as far as eye infections, I just keep a dropper of Polysporin Antibiotic Eye/Ear Dropsin the medicine cabinet at all times. It is over the counter stuff, or ask the Pharmacist. It is a treatment for pinkeye and works great. I don't stop using my contacts if I have an eye infection, I just keep putting the drops in my eyes, as the bottle directs, several times a day. Plus, I put a couple drops in the solution at night while soaking. Usually clears up in a few days. This way, you aren't waiting for a Dr.'s appt while your eye gets worse and needs heavy duty antibiotics that you have to take in pill form and affects your whole body. Since I am able to treat it immediately at first symptoms, I get over it very quickly, too. Without risking damage to my eyes.

A tear in your cornea! That is serious. I just don't see how a contact lens could cause it, unless there was something stuck underneath it or they were drying out severely.
I know the old type I used to have were terrible for drying out. I was just about to give up on them altogether, when my Optometrist told me about "Acuvue Oasys, with Hydraclear".
WOW! What a huge difference. Now I never wear my glasses any more and I love it!

They recommend you change contacts when you get an eye infection, otherwise the contact will reinfect you. This is what happened to me. I did have drops in the cabinet, some were over the counter, others prescribed when my kids had pink eye. I used it, and the infection seemed to clear up, but it kept coming back. Also wearing the contacts so often caused other problems, like a huge scratch on my cornea.

My experience with contacts was such that I resigned myself to wearing glasses. When I tried contacts my eyes were often dry and partnered with allergies, it was a relief to return to glasses.
For me, it has become a matter of finding glasses which suit my style and personality. Whenever possible, I try to be a bit fun with my glasses and always buy lightweight frames and lenses. Contacts were so uncomfortable at times that I am pretty sure that I would never invest in them again. My glasses are so a part of who I am that I hardly notice them, in fact, I miss my glasses when I am not wearing them.
It is simply a matter of preference, I guess.

I've had occasional problems with my contacts, including the infection I got, which was my own fault really. I've found certain brands of contacts I did not like, and will not use again, but the brand I stick with most are focus dailies, or a similar focus product, just not the night and day. The ones I've just ordered are to be replaced every 2 weeks, but of course I won't be wearing them too often so I can make them last a bit longer.
But I personally find contacts to be much easier to handle, and after a little while I hardly notice I'm wearing them. Glasses are a pain, and expensive to replace, and no matter how long I wear them, I always know they're there!

I would love to wear contacts as I do not like wearing glasses either. I went to a place in the U.K. about 5 years ago to try and get contacts. After two frustrating hours of trying to get them in and out of my eyes they told me that I WAS THEIR FIRST FAILURE! That wasn't nice was it? My self esteem plummeted, I can tell you. I do think that if the person had taken more time with me I could have managed it.
Now, I don't mind as much as my glasses hide the bags under my eyes!!!!

That was horrible of them! It was very difficult for me to get my contacts in and out at first as well, and my vision center didn't help me too much. Luckily at the time I had a friend who wore contacts, and she gave me some advice and help. To this day I remember the advice she gave, and think about it everytime I'm putting a contact in or taking it out.

I wish I could wear contacts. I have astigmatism, glaucoma and my eyes are so bad that contacts do not help my vision. Both my daughters wear contacts though. They order them online. They are so much cheaper. They go through ebates.com and they get another discount.
My sister in law got an eye infection from her contacts once. She had to have eye surger as a result. No fun for her.
Hope your contacts arrive soon and you love them. I too hate glasses but I need them to see.

thats good for you. me too i have been wearing contacts lenses 7 years i think and it is very satisfying i would say to use it rather than i glasses. But still i have to wear my glasses too because the contact lenses cannot correct my astigmatism that is why i am still having a headache everytime. so for the meantime i dont have option but to use them

Yes, they do have contacts for astigmatism now. You can even buy them online. Just do a search.

I dont have any glasses till now but well when you ar having glasses for some energies or sight i think its necessary to have them when every you are doing some work or going out , without wearing them it will be straining so i think its better to have them.

I love my contacts too and yes, I've had to put off buying them due to financial constraints in the past. I currently don't even have a prescription pair of glasses (also due to financial constraints), but would kind of like to get one for times that I'm not ready to put in my contacts for the day.

You should get the glasses quickly. Wearing my contacts too often is what gave me an infection, and I ended up having to use Christmas money to get my glasses. It was horrible. Walmart vision center does really cheap eye exams and accept most any insurance if you have it!
