my son just read and discussed romeo and juliet in his english class and i was to help him with his homework. i was asked thesame question.. what personal traits do you look for your son's or daugther's partner in life?
my answers were:
1. respect - someone who respects him and whom he respects
2. admiration
3. fear in God
4. someone who is strong and healthy, personally, emotionally and spiritually
5. someone who makes him happy
6. someone who will take very good care of him
and someone who will love him as much or more than i love him..
etc.. etc..
what's yours?

Well thats not really up to you, its really up to your child to pick their partner. And honestly, you can only hope the values you instilled in them growing up along with the example you set for them will help guide their choices in life. Its all any parent can really hope for.

thanks for the response, esbatty. what you said is very true. i guess i should rephrase the sentence to "what are your hopes for your child's future partner in life's personal traits?"
my son had to answer the same questions and we had to compare our answers at the end and amazingly his responses were almost the same as mine.. besides he like a somewhat geeky girl who wears glasses and is mature..
