Hi,
Giving mental support and guidance is also great help at this time.Give him courage, all types of support and feeling of solidarity--he needs this from you.

Tell him not to be choosy. Tell him to get any job now and gain some working experience while waiting for the right opening in his specialised field. The world employment is so bad now. I read the other day in the paper that a physic graduate applied for the post of sweeper in Korea. He was unfortunately rejected cos he is over qualified for the post. And they were not looking for people with strings of achievements behind their names.

Even though this discussion was started 3 yrs. ago, there are many people out there who can relate and are facing this very issue yet today. Even many people graduating from college might be finding it hard to get a good job unless you almost know someone or have some experience as well. The main thing is learning how to sell yourself what you are good at, your strengths, your goals and then go from there.
It might take accepting a job somewhere that may not pay the Best, or be the type of job you are really interested in, but in time if you continue to strive and plan it can turn out to be a start for the Best job there is for you to have. Just being consistant and not giving up is the key to it all.
