why do you not want to see a doctor?
and could you define irregular? I have a friend who only bleeds twice year. And i suggested she go see a doctor and she did. The outcome is another matter altogether.
But in any case, are you dieting? If you're not eating well and drastically dieting, your mensus would not come due to some hormonal change. IF you're in a highly stressful environment, it'll affect the flow too.
I would strongly suggest you see a doctor. Because.. i don't want to scare you or anything. But i had this relative who has irregular flows decided to not bother about visiting the doctor. After awhile, she found a lump growing on her back. A huge huge lump. And well, when she finally went to see the doctor, that lump was filled with dirty blood. Apparently, all the blood channeled there and coagulated htere.

how long has this irregular cycle been?
Because i'm assuming that this is an on-going thing.
But if it's just recently...
that's because you changed to a new environment, your body changes too. So does your hormones. There is a small "stress" in there. It's normal to skip about one month of menses. WHen i went abroad to study, i missed one month too. No biggy.

My period started to become irregular when I gained weight as a teenager. But when I started exercising and losing some of the weight I gained, that's when my period became regular again. Another possible cause for irregular periods is stress and hormonal imbalance. If this becomes a persistent problem for you, maybe you should consult an OB-gyne. A simple hormonal imbalance can be corrected with some hormonal pills.

Sometimes that can just mean you are very fertile.. I had it the longest 6 months .. but I missed it for a half a year prior to that...
I went to a doctor they told me I was just really fertile not to worry about it and sent me home.. because other than cramps they acted like it was no big deal...
Well... I lost my faith in doctors...sorry to say.. but I still think its worth a try to see a doctor first just in case... It still makes no sense what caused that.. because normally my cycle is three days heavy flow once a month and that it is.. but its always been irregular. I think now what caused mine to mess up is severe electrical shock... - DNatureofDTrain

how many months have you been having such irregularities, if it has just started, can wait for another two or three months, to check if the irregularity continues, if it continues, you must defntly see a doctor, for it might be some probem with your thyroid or secretion of hormone, have you gained any weight?

Hi SlimlyQin!
May be you can try some traditional chinese medication and try it. I usually drink some Indonesian Traditional Herb Drink to decrease the pain of the menstruation. I read that our daily food can be the cause of our pain and delay on the menstrual period. Take care of your food, eat the healthy food and have some exercise once a week. If those way can not help you the last thing that you can do is to meet the professional, the doctors :D
