And yet, another question

Alright, Im still trying to figure everything out here on Mylot. Can someone explain the 'mark as best response' option please? I have started a couple of discussions, is this something I should be doing? How exactly, is one to determine the best response? And what is the purpose of doing so? Thanks for clearing up all this for me!

I think it's more a recognition thing than anything else. Kinda like a 'hey, thanks very much!' to the person you feel best answered your question or had the most interesting/educational/humorous response. I would recommend waiting for a few weeks after you've stopped receiving responses to the discussion. Some people won't respond if a BR has already been chosen so it's best to leave your decision until the discussion has slowed down. Plus if you choose one too soon you may get a better one and you can't change your selection.

You say some people wont respond if a BR is already chosen, why? Does the response you choose as the best get some sort of reward?
Also, on a slightly different note, a question about etiquette. On the posts that I started, should I be responding to every reply? I have seen some posts where the person who started it has a comment for all who reply. I so far have been commenting only on those that spark something new to me. Am I being rude? Should I reply to all comments? Thanks again for clearing up my confusion.

You aren't being rude at all, that's the way I do it too. If I actually have something to say then I comment but I don't do the 'thanks for the response' thing to every reply. People who do that are usually just looking to make a few extra pennies (not all, some are just genuinely being polite) and it doesn't actually work that way . It is kind of off putting when a discussion was a ton of responses and the person who started it doesn't make one appearance. I recommend spacing out your comments (time wise) to help keep your discussion current rather than commenting to all of them at the same time.
As for people not commenting on discussions that already have a BR I really don't know why it would deter them. Maybe they think they get more $$ for BR maybe they feel that there is no point in writing a response if it's not up for that recognition. I usually don't even notice personally, but it is important to some people.

Welcome to myLot Patrika!
We have the opportunity to choose a Best Response every time we start a discussion of our own. Your choice is very personal. Depending on your discussion you might choose the one with the most thought or the one which asnwers a question with all the answers you were looking for. Youcan look at other user's discussions to see how they do it to get an idea if you are confused.
There is no time limit as to when you award a BR.
It is always nice to be on the receiving end I can tell you though
Have fun and happy Lotting!
