I hate to clean!

I really do. Cleaning is a chore that I do not enjoy. So, in order to ensure that my house is not a pig-sty, I have devised a system that seems to work. I have a notebook with a schedule that I made for things that need to be done daily, weekly, monthly, and twice a year. Really. And on each day of the week, I have a different part of the house to tend to. For example, every Monday is kitchen day, the floor gets mopped, clean out the frige, clean the microwave, etc. So far this seems to be working, as nothing gets neglected for too long. Do any of you have similar issues? Any advice for a reluctant cleaner who cannot stand a dirty house?

i dont mind cleaning but what i do hate is that no one helps out that much. i have 2 daughters, one 15 and one 11 and the older one is very lazy (i will hate to see her house when she is older!) and the younger one is picking up after her sister!

I have that problem too! I keep telling my husband that I pick up more of his things than my 5 year old daughters. Just because I am at home during the day does not mean I am the only one responsible for keeping things neat! My daughter pitches in without being asked (some times) but he needs to be prodded to get anything done.

i too hate cleaning the house. the system that i devised... DIVISION OF WORK! I am in charge of the laundry and ironing and cooking... and my husband is in charge of cleaning the house (he cleans the house every saturday), tending the garden, washing the dishes and taking out the garbage :) good thing we do not have kids and it's just the two of us at home so the house does not really get dirty.

Just HOW do you get a husband to clean the house? Is there some secret mind-control device? LOL! His greatest contribution so far is offering to buy me a dishwasher...I would like to know where it is.

Hahaha! My husband is LAUGHING OUT LOUD! He does things around without being asked. We just had lunch and I'm here infront of the laptop on the dining table and he is 10 feet away, washing the dishes! Hello guys! Bubbletush pareho tayo, no kids because of PCOS. I think you with your husband and me with mine will make a perfect foursome. We relate, really, we didn't discuss who will clean and who will do the laundry but it just came naturally. I don't hate cleaning but my husband is the one cleaning the house. I do the laundry but he hangs then folds them when dried. I cook and he sets the table and washes the dishes, pots, pans and all and cleans the stove, too. He also keeps the toilet clean and with no unpleasant odor. One day while we were rushing out of the house going to work, he went back inside. I wondered what's taking him so long then i saw him sweeping the floor because he said my hairstrands are scattered everywhere! LOL!!!

I think that keeping to a schedule is an awesome idea. I don't really like cleaning either but I do find it satisfying to make something really dirty really clean. The only thing I could suggest is maybe put some music on that you really like and dance as you go to make it a little more fun. Other than that your schedule system is much more effective than my wait until it's so dirty I can't stand it anymore system!

LOL! You reminded me...the last time I tried dancing around the kitchen (when I was home alone, of course) my dog was attacking my heels! I think she thought I was having a seizure and was trying to help! OH, now I am embarrasing myself in front of the whole world wide web now, arent I?

Try to look at it happier and things will be cleaned and refreshing after they get cleaned. Or would you like to hire a maid based on hourly pay? Hope it can helpus you :-)

I always joke about hiring a maid, but I dont think I could do it. I have a thing about strangers messing with my stuff. I get irked when my husbands mom comes over and wants to do the dishes after dinner!

I do the exact same thing I hate a dirty house, but hate cleaning at the same time. I actually keep a chart on my fridge of each day and cross it off as it gets done, so when my hubby gets home he sometimes sees I haven't finished some things so he completes them for me (that's only once and awhile) but I feel so good once it is done. I thought I was the only one.

I don't like cleaning, but I hate being unorganized and having a dirty home. Honestly, it's a paradox.
And despite what someone responded with earlier..I think there are honestly are people that enjoy cleaning! I have a few friends who like to clean & I honestly wish I could say I was one of 'em. :)

My oldest sister is one of those people who actually enjoy cleaning. She has started her spring cleaning and I think she is just as happy as can be...I am avoiding her house at all costs until she is finished for fear of being recruited!

Hahaha I like my room as a helll. I never clean it, always spread my things here and there in it. But if you want to clean your home then its my own logic according to your matter that instead of making a schedule for cleaning different portions just made habit that only use the things you need most. Just like consider my case that when I need to study I just take all the books even I have to study only from one. So you only use the thing that you need most instead of using every thing from every portion.

I have a schedual like that as well. Each area is cleaned on a certian day and once a day I skim the house. I pick up what needs to be done that day and save the rest for the day it is schedualed. If I get in a cleaning mood I just move on to the next day or check off one of the chores that need to be done monthly or annualy. It also helped a ton when I gave the kids more chores. I think kids should know how to run and maintain a house by the time they move out of mine.

I generally clean with a schedule too. I like to know that I clean on a regular basis and I like to know that I haven't missed anything. I used to clean one room per day,but realized that there are rooms which have to be cleaned more than once a week. I try to have a good schedule of what room or rooms I will clean each day and I add laundry to it and I try to follow it the best that I can. I guess you could try to put some music on and dance around to clean as it would make it more interesting.

We don't have cleaning schedules at home but what we do is "return to where is should be" and "clean as you go" systems. After using something, make sure you return it to it's proper place but make sure that it is clean and usable when it will be needed. Or after doing the laundry, spend a few more minutes to clean the washing machine and the laundry area. These way, when we feel the house is dirty, we only have to spend more time on things and areas which are not frequently used.

It sounds like you have a very good system intact. I have a small house, so when I spend an hour cleaning, I get alot done...but the bad part about a small house is I have no where to put everything... we of course are working on our house too so that doesnt help.
my house has been neglected a bit with me looking to work online now, but I spend one hour on the computer and one hour straigtening or running to the stores, and then when I get home I spend another hour or two online, then I clean something and start dinner... I also have 2 kids, and lots of toys everywhere...that is the worst of my house right now is the toys...LOL, they are everywhere!!!!!
good luck, and stick with what works for you, it sounds like a great system!!
