i can remember now that this happened when my children were something like five and seven years old. yes, they are now 30 and 28. that makes 25 years more or less. and yes, i am really old by now. i am nearing sixty.
now, i cannot even recall the movies that we used to see then except for those ones which starred bruce lee. my husband was such a big fan, used to be.

No. But our neighbor had one. We used to watch in their house the old Jackie Chan movies like Drunken Master. We also watched Rambo and Rocky in their Betamax. Kind a little bit funny, I still remember when I was helping our neighbor rewind the tapes. He did not want to use the player to automatically rewind them because he believed it will shorten the life of the player. So we do it manually. I hold the tape and he do the twisting.. LOL...

We've never owned a Betamax machine. Those players were long gone before I got old enough before I could have my own machine in my room. I've only ever had a VCR, and then a DVD player. Now, when I was younger, we had a VCR and a Betamax machine. We had a bunch of tapes for both machines. It was ridiculous as to how many we had. There are none left, and the Betamax has been long gone.

Hey modstar! I didn't have Betamax! I guess I just skipped that
step and went directly to VHS! And now I am still there! I still
don't have a DVD player yet! I am not a big movie watcher if
you can believe that! I will watch a movie on tv or online, but
I really don't care if I don't watch movies at all! My boyfriend
keeps saying he is going to get a DVD player, but he just never
does! Maybe one day he will!

Yes we do own a betamax before, and we have good movies in betamax form as well however I didn't enjoyed watching movies in betamax because when we were little as far as I can remember we already used the VHS. Our betamax is just there as a display and the tapes were already stored in a cabinet. In my time VHS is the mode of entertainment in terms of movie watching, we rent tapes in VHS form cause we do not go to movie houses before. Back then going to the cinemas to watch a movie cost a lot and we could not afford wasting our money for entertainment so we just rent tapes and watch it at home. But now we do not have both of them anymore. As time passes they became obsolete and we have to get rid of them because having them fixed is not just worth it and when the era of VCD's and DVD's roam the entertainment scene, they do not produce VHS tapes anymore. Modern technology really advances rapidly. ^-^

yes, we did have one, modstar. it was the front loading type. actually, we hac two. i can recall now that at first we had the top loading type. and then when it got busted, we bought a new one, this time, it is the front loading type. we were told that it is the more durable model.
the betamax performance was never that good. so, when the vhs machines came forth, we also bought one immediately. they proved to be more durable and better in performance if compared to the betamax.

I remember Betamax. I remember when I went to buy my first VCR having to choose and hoping that I didn't choose the wrong one. I chose VHS (though I don't remember why) I did watch movies on a betamax though. Before I bought a VCR it was common for the video stores to rent you the VCR with the tapes.
