It Has Came Back

I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder Type 1 several years ago. I was on and off medications throughout the years. I became pregnant last year and promptly stopped taking my medications. But my mood shifts were manageable (they did not use to be). After the baby was born, my disorder appared to be in remission. Up until now, nearly nine months after my baby was born. My monster has came back with full vengeance. I am now on Day 2 of my mania. I can barely sleep, I cannot stay still, I cannot stop these maddening racing thoughts. Before this mania, I was severely depressed for a day. And before that, manicial for a day. I wonder if the body chemistry shifts when you are pregnant and give birth, only to return to "normal," as far as un-medicated goes, when your body feels that the baby is safe. I don't know, maybe this is a dumb question, but it has me curious. I have never heard of it going into remission for the duration of a pregnancy and post-pregnancy, only to growl and spit in my face a few months later. Has anyone had this issue?
