smoking is dangerous to your health. even the government says so. but how come they still allow manufacturing of cigarettes? why is it not banned from being sold? all cigarettes give us are lung cancer, pollution, early deaths, bad teeth, gum problems, other lung problems, second hand smokers are even more prone to diseases caused by smoking. what can we do to make the government ban cigarette making and selling? drinking is better than smoking because drinking has some benefits but smoking has not one benefit at all.

I like your honest confession. Some people would go on to defend in whichever way they could to justify smoking. If there are more people like you, banning smoking would not be difficult for the lawmakers.

I don't think we should ban it, but ban it from public places. Believe me I HATE smoking, but they could never ban it from the taxes the gov't gets from it.
I hate being around it, I don't hang out with people who smoke. If they do then they have to leave my general area to do it. I hate the smell.. I hate everything about it. I wish they could completely ban it, but they can't and won't.

Drinking is dangerous to your health. Holding your breath is dangerous to your health. Taking medicine is dangerous to your health. Just going outside can be dangerous to your health. Shall we outlaw all of the above? It's not the government's job to make sure you don't endanger yourself. You should be able to run around with scissors and huff entire cans of paint thinner without the government caring.
It is not YOUR business who smokes, and it is not the goverment's business who smokes. It would be wrong to ban smoking, because nobody needs to be treated like a child by their own government.

Yes smoking is dangerous but what is not dangerous these days? Drinking is horrible to your heath it destryos your liver and skin. Smoking causes cancer. Eating too much fat causes cancer. Heck i could walk outside breathe in the fumes from the cars on the stree, thats going to cause cancer too. As adults we are able to make the decision as far as what to put and what not to put into our bodies, and it should stay that way.

I do agree with you on this. It seems that there are equally as many pro-smokers as dissenter of the group on this subject.
I can't see the harm of banning smoking. There is absolutely nothing beneficial to them at all. And people can save so much money buy not buying them any more.

I dont think banning smoking is such a good thing. I mean so many people do smoke and yea there are health risks and the such, but there are so many other things in this world that are bad for your health, but aren't banned. If people are informed of the risks, which they are and still choose to smoke then that is their choice. By banning smoking we take away that choice, and you know people will just end up getting them illegally.

I don't smoke.. not anymore that is... but I would like to know what benefits does drinking have? Drinking is just as bad. So if your gonna ban one, why not the other...
Also... surger & many other foods are bad for your health as well... should we ban them?
Just curious what you think about that....

Smokers do not believe smoking causes lung cancer, if government banned smoking, they will sue government for violation of their rights and manufacturers will also take legal action against government if their trillion dollars yearly profit suffer.
It is the right of individual to get cancer and loss of tax revenue that make it difficult for government to enforce the ban.

Absolutely! It should be completely banned, I think governement should advocate something to encourage people quit smoking. More people quit smoking, better for the next generation and the society.

Hello there eabaterina. Good day to you. Yes, but the government couldn't stop what the people want. Even the government officials are smokers too. They know the fact that it can cause some serious problems in our health but why are still they smoking? Because it's addictive. I am a smoker, a heavy smoker before, but Now I only smoke every other day. I knew that I need to change not only for me but for my future family. You are right, Nothing good will it contribute to the world. I hope that smokers will soon realized it. Thank you for the topic.
