Here in the department stores and some good restaurants, the Wifi connection is available. However, most of them set the password, including the Starbucks Therefore I can not access it. Today on my way home, I especially checked where there is the Wifi connection

most of the wifi spots nowadays are password protected. so we have to buy something from them in order to get the wifi internet service. after your survey today, have you found any places with free wifi services?

Hi youless, it is nice to learn that wifi services are available in the department stores and some restaurants in your place, so that it is more convenient for the people in your place to access internet connection via their cell phones, netbooks and laptops.
Yeah, in my place wifi service is available easily in many places. The wifi service in Starbucks Coffee and KFC fast food restaurants here are free and they don’t need any password to access the service. One of the KFCs here even provides 24 hours service. There are still many restaurants as well as the Chinese tea chamber here too providing the wifi service, and of course all of them need password to get on the net. We can get the password when we become customers there. There are sockets on the wall for the convenient of the customers to get power source of the phones, netbooks and laptops. All customers are welcome to surf the net, no matter how little they spend there.
I usually will visit the bakery café or the KFC which are quite near to my house in case my network service is down. I take 5 minutes or so to drive there.
Happy posting and have a nice day.

Wi-Fi spots can be found everywhere. Question is whether we can access it or not.
I know Macdonalds allow people to access their Wi-Fi.
I am not sure about Starbucks. I know Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf allows it too.
Even at major shopping centers and libraries, we have Wi-Fi access.

First of all, is the Wi-Fi available at Starbucks meant for public use?
If not, it is not surprising if they set a password.
I am sure there are other free spots that you can use to enjoy your new mobile!
And I can see that you have been busy exploring all the features of the phone.

I love Wifi spots very much because it is one of the coolest and best free connection ever and I love the fact that I can just use my cell and just reconnect almost anywhere and everywhere. I'm not sure about restaurants here in my country but for Starbucks, I love the connection so much; awesome!
I know that discussion is a bit 3 months back, but I totally love it very much. I think that Wifi is one of the most coolest technology ever created. Good discussion here.

There are a lot of wifi hotspots here, its available in places like a hotel, restaurants, coffee shops and malls. There are some wifi spots that are secured thats why its asking a password while there are also some wifi spots that can be accessed even without any password.

In one of the malls here that we frequently go to, there in an entire wing that has WIFI, most of the coffee shops are there. If you don't have a budget to buy coffee, there is a corner near the gym there that you can sit and use your laptop. You will have to use it on battery though. If you want to be able to charge/ plug it then you will definitely have to go to one of the establishments, besides its more comfortable sitting on a couch or chair than just on the floor. Starbucks here has WIFI too, but they charge around $2 an hour, I duno why they do that, when there are so many other establishments that allow free WIFI as long as you order from them like Krispy Kreme or Burger King.

There are many wifi spots around here but it seems that I don't get to use it very often *smiles*. I have an online plan with my phone and therefore I don't really care for wifi that much!

Hello youless. Wifi is something new to me as I have no idea about it, but it seems that it has something to do with games, I guess. But anyway, it is good to hear that you have already found it out so far. Take care.

youless,
Where I come from our government is trying to let everyone be able to have wireless access across the whole country and accessing members will need to pay a one time charge monthly to their specific internet service providers for this roaming access. So, as a internet user we can always decide if we would like to have this service and I find it very practical especially one is on the move.
However, the providence of wireless internet access infrastructures differ with countries and in yours I feel that as these accesses are not being provided by the internet service providers directly. These accesses are provided by business establishments to provide a value added service to their customers. So, these accesses are naturally password protected so as to ensure that users will be their customers and that there will be no abuse to their provided access.
So, in my country 85% of the country has Wifi.

When it comes to Wifi and broadband my country can be said to be still tottering instead of striding forward. Nevertheless there are free wifi spots provided by private and government agencies.
Free private wifi connection is provided by certain restaurants and coffee shops. It is one way for them to get more customers to patronise their premises. I do not know whether this has helped to boost their income or not.
Free government sponsored wifi connections are found at certain tourist locations. They put up banners around the area to inform the public. I have not tried any location yet so I do not know how good the connection is at each location.
all the best,
rosdimy

If I am in the modern countries like Japan, Europe, or US, it is probably quite easy to find a wifi spot. It also becomes easier to find that in the capital city of Indonesia, Jakarta. But in my hometown, it is quite difficult. We need to go to some schools that implement the Wifi system in their network. Sometimes, the traffic is just slow and it is annoying to surf the web.
