iPod touch or iPhone?

Since iPhones have been released with the iconic mp3 player "iPod" programmed in it, many of my friends said it is better to buy an iPhone rather than buying an iPod Touch! But iPod touch has max capacity of 32GB whereas iphone has only 16GB. and we can install same applications and use wifi on the ipod touch also? so why not buy Ipod Touch and use a simple cellular phone for making phone calls and sending sms?
What do you think is the best choice?

I dont know enough about that to render an opinion acutally. I have been thining about getting an iphone if I can afford it, but I dont know when or if that will happen. It is up in the air.

Actually I own an IPhone and I really enjoy it. I use it as a phone as well as other things that entertain me such as music and other applications. 2 in 1.
