Run windows on mac

I Recently bought a imac. I really love it. I think it is superior to PCs in terms of multimedia. The only downside is the lack of software compatibility. I have a couple of programs I used often on my old windows laptop. Not compatible with mac. I was exploring the applications folder one day and found a boot camp icon in the utilities folder. I investigated it further and found out it was a had disc partition utility that would install windows on my mac. I tried it. It worked great. Now I can use my windows based programs when needed on my mac. Has anyone else tried this?
